Police: Man Found With 39 Pounds Of Meth
06-17-2009 5:03 AM (Tucson, AZ) –– A Douglas man is behind bars after a traffic stopped uncovered 39-pounds of meth and two-pounds of cocaine hidden in his vehicle. According to a DPS spokesperson, 53-year-old Carlos Buelna was arrested after a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to the narcotics. The officers stopped Buelna on westbound I-10 about 27 miles east of Tucson on Sunday. Buelna is sitting in the Pima County Jail, charged with possession and transportation of a dangerous drug for sale. Link And who said border checkpoints inside the USA weren't useful.. this guy got stopped by luck, if he hadn't there would be 39 more pounds of meth and 2 more pounds of cocaine on the street in Arizona |

We should have checkpoints all throughout the US. Every few blocks or so, hand out the papers, in the name of safety and the children of course. To be honest, I'd rather some doper got geetered on that meth than it be found in an illegal traffic stop. Just my .02. Worth exactly what you paid for it. |

What is the street value of 39 lbs of meth and 2 lbs of cocaine? Depends on what you mean by street value? If you break it down by the smallest amounts sold at the street level then you are looking at about $200K for the meth and about $45K for the coke. At the bulk level you are looking at about 1/3 of those numbers. |

this guy got stopped by luck, if he hadn't there would be 39 more pounds of meth and 2 more pounds of cocaine on the street in Arizona Yeah, and if we just lived in a police state like China we would'nt have a drug problem at all. Definitely worth it if you ask me. If those dumb federales had only done this in 1921 we wouldn't have all those fetal alcohol syndrome babies being born today. |

Especially the meth, if hasn't been cut and is of decent manufacture then that's a good estimate, if it's been stepped on more times than Obama's dignity then it'd be worth less. Of course, being transported by a mexi in AZ would lead me to believe it's pure. |

The officer located 26 packages of methamphetamine with a combined weight of 39 pounds and one package of cocaine which weighed 2.2 pounds. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $780,000. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $26,000. Damn man some times I wish I was a drug supplier. freaking shit loads of money for pretty much nothing. Edit it was from a different article i was looking how much 39 pounds of meth was. |

No way the meth was worth anywhere near that and they are low on the coke estimate. ETA: By their estimate the meth is worth twice what the coke is per lb which is not anywhere near being true. |

Thats the total of the questions typically asked. Once and a while they throw in a "You hiding any *illegal* weapons, drugs, or UDAs in the vehicle?" Nope. Have a nice day sir. You too! And I drive on... |

The Arizona Department of Public Safety ("Highway Patrol") detained and arrested Mr. Buelna, not the Border Patrol. In fact, there aren't any border checkpoints between Douglas and Tucson. Another hint would have been the thread title ("traffic stop").
Here's your harassment: Buelna did something fishy enough to get a DPS officer's attention. Said officer pulled him over and decided a drug dog would probably be a good idea. Lo and behold, drugs. You can take the cyberpatriot vs. the asperger's statist pissing match to your own thread instead of belittling Border Patrol and dismissing good police work by the DPS. |
