This show is rockin.  People shooting wild pigs up to 1200 lbs...I didn't know they could get that big?  They are talking about wild hogs attacking people here in the states.

Very interesting.  Now if they could be trained and outfitted with freaking laser beams on their heads.

Ben, do you eat pork?

Does Hebrew law extend to wild hogs or just domesticated swine?

I don't eat pork.  I don't even hunt.  That said...I just think it is an interesting show.  And with how destructive they are making wild hogs out to be, I think I could justify shooting them.

I don't know about that, a good friend of mine shot one that weighed in at 700 pounds about six years ago.  I know that is a lot less than 1,200 but close enough for me to believe it is possible.  Also here in central Florida 400 pounds is common, almost small.

I bet it is a recent domestic boar introduction.  That and good food.  There are a few breeds with roan coloration/markings like Duroc.  Red Wattle is another, although much more rare.  People have been breeding hogs on an informal basis forever, much less record keeping than say horses or cattle.

But when hogs escape, they can get some interesting genetics, some of which MAY be the cause of the transformation to this superhog.

Negative.  It's quite easy to tell a domestic pig from a wild hog.  It could have been a wild hog which was caught and hand raised, but that would be unlikely being that it was shot on a 100,000 acre private hunting lease with no pig farms within miles.

I've been attempting to kill a 500lb pig for 30 years.

They don't exist in the wild.....at least no where in Texas. Not "born in the wild " anyway.

No one has EVER shown one.....EVER! The really big ones are escaped pigs that were raised that big in a pen.

Simple as that.

Agreed...wild hogs can be downright mean from what I have been told.

I shot the pig on the right one night.

It was huge for a wild boar. I'm  6'2" and weight 225 the other guy is about the same size as me. The pig was almost 6 foot from nose to end of leg.

Guess how much he weighed?

I don't know about anyone else, but this show is getting me wanting to get my gun and come south for a week of pure Hog Hunting FUN!!!!   I have been needing a vacation and this seems like it could be it. seems like they are almost like a rat or something that needs to be hunted without any limits for now.   How bout it Arfcom, go South and hunt some piggies for a week?

I would guess that pig weighed about 300 pounds maybe a little more.  I don't mean to sound argumentative, but Texas is known for very small pigs.  If you really like to pig hunt you should check out Florida, Southern Georgia, Missisippi or Alabma.

Exactly what I thought.

178lbs.

I shot a shitload of 300lbers before I bought a scale.

They talk about what a big problem these pigs are.  Seems easy, let hunters take em all out.  Plenty of hungry people around to eat em.  Firearms and hunting fun, followed by BBQ, sounds like a great start to a party.

Hogs don't taste as good to me as do domestic swine.  Veeerrrry lean.

We get some big ones down here, but I havn't seen any monsters.  I don't hunt for them on purpose.  I have seen a few hundred pounders.

The ones I have seen look just like skinny domestic pigs, albiet a little harrier.
