Wow, kinda high! I know its hard to find 9mm glock right now , but damn. Its the first one I've seen in town in a while.  Ok its got night sights an extended mag release and a 3.5# trigger. Nice gun. I like the 1st gen glocks. Wish I had the $ . On the plus side it did come with a 33rd glock mag and a 18 round leo only mag.

LoL...
Funny thing is a G17 mag will fit 18 rounds without too much issue (even though it is obviously meant for 17).

Mine will only take 17, maybe I should use a hammer.

Lots of people like the Gen 1 pebble grip, including me.  Original mags sucked but those 33 rounders are going for like $50 now.  Price doesn't sound that ridiculous and $510 is a weird price-like it has wiggle room.

Wow.
I guess things are going up rapidly.
I bought a Gen 3 Glock 17 within the last 4-5 months for $475 NEW.

FWIW: I also have  a Gen 1 Glock 17 that I paid $350 for years ago.

There has not been a Glock factory 18 round mag produced.  It was probably an aftermarket made during the ban methinks.

Negative Ghostrider, very early G17 mags did indeed hold 18rds and were numbered as such. I've seen 'em. But I have never seen an 18rd mag marked LE only mag.

Anyhoos, 1st gen G17s have kinda sorta become collectors items. The price might be good, depending on the condition.

I've never heard of such a beast to be honest.

Even at Glock Armorer's school when they gave the product history

Any Gen 1 over $400 is a rip off. I bought a G21 Gen 2 for $340 a couple of months ago from a dealer and they should run more than a 17 or 19.

$500 is the price of a brand new GLOCK.

Shop around. If you can't find it now you will later. They're not going anywhere.

$400 for a very good or better G1 is certainly not a rip off.

Please point me to the "supply" of VG+ Gen 1 Glocks for $350...

No kidding. An excellent condition 1st Gen G17 will go for more than a new G17.

I need a 2nd Gen G21 to

Are those all early makes or is there a pattern of oldest to newest there?

I'm trying to figure out the different glock mag generations and the differences.

There was one in a local shop for $325 a few months ago. I almost bought it, but ended up with my 17L instead.

Sorry, no.

A first generation Glock in very good condition is going to run as much as a new G17.  Anyone who tries to offer you less is probably one of those guys that sits at the gun show and offers $300 for anything with "Smith & Wesson" "Colt" or "HK" on it.

You know the seedy type.  If not, the important thing is WE know them

Police trade in guns are less than $400 around here. I cannot say that I have priced them in the last few months. I am recalling the dozens that I have seen in the case over the years. As usual, YMMV.

Do you think that a sealed gold coin, a first printing hardbound book, or a garage kept 1971 Mustang are worth less than the new versions of each?

Glocks made before 10/98 are worth a lot of money in Massachusetts.

Did I miss the "new in the box ,signed by Gaston Glock" part of the OP?

Do you think a rusted out 66 Mustang or a worn out Playboy are worth as much as they were new. They aren't collectors items, just used guns.

Supply and demand. There is a demand for good/excellent condition G17s, and there is virtually no supply because none have been made in almost 20 years. When one pops up at a halfway decent price, it goes fast. I still regret not jumping on an auction for a NIB 1st Gen about a year ago- but I made up for it by buying a NIB 2nd Gen at a gunshow for four bills.

Considering the OP said it was a "nice gun", I don't think that qualifies as a rusted out Mustang.

GT distributors down in Austin has a case full of trade-in 17's and 22's.  Prices vary between $350 to $380 depending on condition.

Would you guys buy these things so they can start putting Smith revolvers back into the case?

That's interesting. I didn't know that 1st Gen Glocks demanded a premium. I like mine but I think I like the 3erd Gen better. I haven't shot my 1st Gen Glock since I got the 3erd. I have shot the 3erd a lot (mostly with an AA .22LR conversion). Although I shot MANY thousands of rounds through my 1st gen before that. In fact, I have my 1st gen Glock with an inert trigger that resets for dry firing but doesn't allow the gun to fire live ammo.
