I'm writing a research paper for one of my college classes about gun control.  I am against increasing gun control as my husband is an avid hunter and I've been hunting with him.  I was wondering if anyone could help me with the negatives of gun control.  I have to include graphs and I already have one made, but I need to do another one.  I was wondering if anyone knew where to find a survey that showed figures about what people use their guns for.  I appreciate any help on this subject.

Well for starters gun rights have jack shit to do with hunting.

I have guns for fun, personal protection, and so the king of england can't waltz in and push me around!

Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
Yes, that is 80 million.

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

Welcome to the forums, jba2007!

I don't recall seeing any such data published - However, you may be able to find something similar (or get some ideas for a different chart topic) at one of these links:

Just stay away from the Brady Bunch... their numbers are severely skewed and twisted to manipulate perception to advance their cause.

Welcome to the board!

John Lott's book is considered an authority on the subject.
