This is odd, arent ranges in Afganistan a little long for a 12ga?

Some people say the ranges in afghanistan are too much for the 5.56.

who said these guys were in afganistan. And what weapon would you want if you were checking out caves?

Hey, who are these guys?

They are wearing Alice H-suspenders and pistol belts instead of Mollie gear.  They arent Marines, every other Marine I have seen on TV in Afganistan so far has had Mollie.

Are these Air Force or something?

No insignia or name tags either.

hey ArmdLbrl, dont be a friggin tool. they are Marines. and as a Marine i can give you 5 reasons among many why they are.

1.the ARE NOT wearing H-harnesses. look at the shoulder straps, ever seen alice with a chest strap?

2. the Army has a hard-on for helmets. no body hands out boonie-covers like the Corps

3. the Corps is very shotgun friendly. 870s, 1300s, 590A1s they are everywhere

4. in the Grunts you use what works. most guys in the Corps who have MOLLE is because they went out in town to "saigon sam's" and bought the shit. or they buy Eagle or Blackhawk etc

5. no earplugs, no field dressing on the left strap no helmet.

are you a Marine. from where do you draw your expertise on my beloved Corps

Definitely wearing MOLLE FLCs (Fighting Load Carriers). You can only see one of their rank on his collar, but it is too far away to tell what it is,  all of them are wearing their body armor, minus helmet

For some reason I wouldn't want to be the guy with the 870.

Call me crazy, but...

Look at the way the sling is attached to the front of the magazine tube.  Isn't that a Winchester?

All 3 of the Marines in the foreground are wearing MOLLE FLC's (Fighting Load Carrier; like a new improved LBV).  As far as the chest strap is stretched out, it looks like they are wearing their body armor or cold weather gear.  I'm no Marine, and I'm not claiming to know more than one, DvlDog, but I do own MOLLE gear and that is precisely what they are wearing.  You can see the webbing straps on them and the grenade pouch on the far-left Marine's shoulders.

That's what I was going to say.  However, I'm no shotgun pro.  I think you're right though.

"Only 00 or 000 buckshot and rifled slugs may be used or possesed during Taliban Season.  All shotguns must have a non-removable plug limiting magazine capacity to not more than three shells in the magazine and chamber, combined.  Bag limit is 3 middle eastern bombers a day, 6 in possesion."

You can buy a replacement magazine tube cap with a sling stud for damn near ANY brand shotgun at your local Wal-Mart.  I think there is too little of the shotgun showing to be able to properly identify it.

Hey DVDTracker,

Can you post that "Garand does my talking" poster in here http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=77789?

Thanks,

The Marine Corps has Moss 500, Moss 590A1, Rem 870, Win 1200, Win 1300 and a limited number of M1014/M4 Benellis.  In the next several years all the weapons other than the Moss 500 will be replaced with the M1014/M4.  I agree that too little of the weapon is displayed to ID it.  That being said, my Win 1300 has a sling swivel on the mag cap.

If they were Army or Airforce they would have a half dozen different badges and insignia...

The shotgun looks like a basic Mossberg M500 to me. Look at how squared off the front of the receiver is, and look at where the Marines thumb is, right ontop of the mossberg safty.
