A group of ultra-radical Islamists are training in the Gaza Strip, and SPIEGEL ONLINE met with one of their leaders.    Salafi extremist Abu Mustafa says more and more Hamas militants like these are defecting to his group.    It's not easy to find a place to meet the man who goes by the name of Abu Mustafa. A number of places were agreed on and jettisoned. Finally, after hours of cruising around Gaza City with Abu Mustafa's driver, the call came. The meeting would take place on the beach. There are enough people on the beach that one doesn't attract so much attention, the caller explained. How absurd this notion was would soon become clear.    Most people don't stick out on the beaches of Gaza to the degree that Abu Mustafa does. He picks his way across the sand on crutches, his leg wrapped in a cast up to his thigh. The Pakistani clothes he wears are also foreign -- and the white shirt that hangs to his knees makes walking on crutches even more difficult. Finally he slumps in a plastic chair. "Peace be upon you," he says quietly, welcoming his guest.    Many people would like to speak with Abu Mustafa these days -- he guesses about 10 men call him each day. Abu Mustafa holds the key to an ideology that many are turning to in the Gaza Strip: Salafist jihadism, a belief in the most radical form of Islam. "We meet secretly in mosques and private homes," says Abu Mustafa, who has become an entry point to the movement for many. He says the Salafis now number up to 5,000 people, not counting the women and children.    'A Very Dangerous Man'    "We aren't well enough organized yet, but we are in the process of building networks," says the 33-year-old. Eventually, he hopes, a powerful movement will be born. Members are already receiving weapons training and are schooled in both dogma and strategy. "When the fight begins, they will show no mercy," said a middleman for the interview -- himself a fighter in an armed militia -- prior to the beach meeting. "Abu Mustafa is a very dangerous man."    Salafis -- sometimes referred to as Wahhabis -- dream of a world before Islam became cluttered with new innovations and cultural influences. They seek to live a pious, god-fearing life governed by the laws of religion, a life resembling those of the original Muslims. At first glance, such a belief system doesn't differ much from that of other utopian sects -- were it not for their ideas related to holy war. To make their vision a reality, Abu Mustafa and his men are willing to fight -- and they are willing to slaughter innocent bystanders.    "Look," says Abu Mustafa, whose beard cascades down his chest, "there will be three possibilities. Some will find their way to Islam. Those who don't want to convert will be able to live in peace under the authority of Islam." For those who don't want to accept the hegemony of Islam, however, holy war is the only recipe. "Then we have to fight -- just like our brothers on Sept. 11," Abu Mustafa says.

This is in accord with Muhammad's directions: "Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war…When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them….If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya [the tax on non-Muslims specified in Qur’an 9:29]. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them. (Sahih Muslim 4294)

   

The attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. seven years ago were a response to the contempt held for Islam by the Western world, he says. "If Muslims are attacked anywhere in the world, one has to hit back, and it doesn't matter where." Salafist Islam is like a cat, he says. "It is very friendly, but if it is attacked, it turns into a tiger."

This idea -- that "one has to hit back" -- is traditional Islamic theology: that defensive jihad is fard ayn, obligatory on every Muslim to aid in some way, if a Muslim land is attacked.

Since it is firmly established as a definite principle of Koranic study that the later 'revelations' (Sura) abrogate (render null and void and replace) the earlier Sura - and as the Koran s not organized chronologically - rather it is organized with the largest Sura first (al Baqarah) and the shortest last (al Kawthar), please let us know if these selected quotes are early Meccan 'revelations' or later Medinan 'revelations'.

Of course, that's critical.  As we know, in Mecca Mohammad was trying to convince the Jews and Gnostics he really was a prophet and trying to convert the polytheists, so he was all tolerant and loving...  These Meccan Sura and the early Sura that are abrogated (replaced) by the later, warlike Medinan Sura.

In Medina Mohammad gathered his strength and discovered war.  Hence, the later intolerant, supremicist, warlike Medinan Sura which abrogate the peaceful, tolerant Meccan Sura are binding on Muslims today.

Every Muslim knows this (if they pay attention in mosque), as does every serous student of Islam.  Muslims don't call attention to it because it is what it is.

Sura 9 (al Tawba) was one of the last 'revelations' (some scholars say it is the last).  It tellingly does not begin with the bismillah (the blessing of "Allah" the merciful).  It directs unceasing war until Islam is supreme, etc.

Sura 9 abrogates the earlier peaceful, tolerant and loving Sura.  Every Muslim that pays attention in mosque knows that, as does every serious student of Islam.

For a Muslim to say otherwise is tiqqyat or kitman.  The only reason to lie about it is to serve the jihad of the Umma against the kafir - or ignorance - or self delusion.

  3. HUMAN RIGHTS

     Islam is to be imposed by force.
         * Mohammed said, "I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and whoever says, " None has the right to be worshipped but Allah , his life and property will be saved by me." (otherwise it will not). Vol. 4:196

     Apostasy is punishable by death.
         * Mohammed said, "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him." Vol. 9:57

     A Muslim must not be killed if he kills a non-Muslim.
         * Mohammed said, " No Muslim should be killed for killing a Kafir" (infidel). Vol. 9:50

     Ethnic cleansing is practiced.
         * Mohammed said to the Jews, "You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle (Mohammed) and I want to expel you from this land (The Arabian Peninsula), so, if anyone owns property, he is permitted to sell it." Vol. 4:392

         * Mohammed's last words at his deathbed were: "Turn the pagans (non-Muslims) out of the Arabian Peninsula." Vol. 5:716  

  4. ETERNAL SECURITY

     No assurance of Salvation.
         * Mohammed said. "By Allah, though I am the apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me." Vol. 5:266

     God punishes a deceased if his relatives weep.
         * Mohammed said, "The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his relatives." Vol. 2:375

     When you speak badly about a deceased, the deceased will go to hell.
         * Mohammed said, "You praised this, so Paradise has been affirmed to him, and you spoke badly of this, so hell has been affirmed to him. You people are Allah's witnesses on earth." Vol. 2:448

     Urine on your clothes will bring punishment from God.
         * Mohammed said, "The deceased person is being tortured in the grave not for a great thing to avoid, it is for being soiled with his urine. " Vol. 2:460

     Holy war (Jihad) is a guarantee of heaven.
         * Mohammed said, "The person who participates in (Holy battles) in Allah's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in Allah and His Apostle, will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to paradise (if he is killed).   5. MEDICINE

     Drinking camel's urine will make you healthy.
         * "The prophet ordered them to follow his camels, and drink their milk and urine , so they followed the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy." Vol. 7:590

     Fever is from the heat of hell.
         * Mohammed said, " Fever is from the heat of hell, so put it out (cool it) with water." Vol. 7:619

     A fly in your drink is a cure.
         * Mohammed said, "If a housefly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease. " Vol. 4:537

     How the baby's looks are determined.
         * Mohammed said, "As for the child, if the man's discharge precedes the woman's discharge, the child attracts the similarity of the man, and if the woman's discharge precedes the man's, then the child attracts the similarity of the woman." Vol. 5:275

  6. MISCELLANEOUS

     If you eat garlic don't come to the place of worship.
         * Mohammed said, "Whosoever ate from this plant (i.e. garlic) should not enter the mosque." Vol. 1:812

     Effect of evil eye
         * Mohammed said, "The effect of an evil eye is a fact. " Vol. 7:636

     Which shoe you should put on first.
         * Mohammed said, "If you want to put on your shoes, put on the right shoe first, and if you want them off, take the left one first." Vol. 7:747

     Breathing in your drink is bad.
         * Mohammed said, "Don't breath into your drinking utensil." Vol. 1:156

     God frightens his devotees with eclips.
         * Mohammed said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse because of the death of someone but Allah frightens His devotees with them. " Vol. 2:158


     Satan urinates in people's ears, when they don't wake up for prayer.

I don't seem to remember any thing similar in the Christian New Testament.

That concept of fighting back is taken too far in nearly every circumstance, since an "attack on a Muslim" can be anything from shooting one in the face to putting a puppy on a postcard. It depends on the Muslim.





This  is in no way meant to be disrespectful to Muslims. At least, not the ones who hate terrorism.

Sura 9 (al Tawba) was one of the last 'revelations' (some scholars say it is the last).  It tellingly does not begin with the bismillah (the blessing of "Allah" the merciful).  It directs unceasing war until Islam is supreme, etc. Sura 9 abrogates the earlier peaceful, tolerant and loving Sura.  Every Muslim that pays attention in mosque knows that, as does every serious student of Islam. For a Muslim to say otherwise is tiqqyat or kitman.  The only reason to lie about it is to serve the jihad of the Umma against the kafir - or ignorance - or self delusion. Very interesting.
