I was at the range today with my Sig and noticed two guys with a Springfield XD .45ACP.

I got to talking with them about their pistol and mine, and we ended up giving each others pistols a "test drive".

I had never shot an XD before.  I thought the sights were good, recoil pretty mild for a polymer-framed .45ACP, and found the trigger to be VERY GOOD.

The owners buddy said to the owner, "Hey, that guy shoots better with your pistol than you do!"

I made a nice, softball sized group at 25 yrds that were properly centered...VERY nice shooting XD.

I might, at some point...but I'm on a Sig kick right now.

I go through my phases...you know.  But I'm glad I got to shoot the XD, it's a pistol that I might just buy one day.

It's a good sign when you can run ONE clip through one and shoot decently with it.

While I agree in principle, where exactly do you think the XD is made?

I've been impressed by the XD's in the past but can't get past the long trigger reset.

Glock for me but those XD's do group nice when slow-firing at the range.

not in illinois... hint: used to be called the hs2000

I've been carrying a 5" XD40 everyday for a couple years and i love it. No malfunctions in a couple thousand rounds with several different types of ammo and pretty damn accurate. I'm thinking about picking up a 4" .45ACP and possibly the 3" 9mm too... the 5" gets a little cumbersome on the bike.

A friend shoots a Glock 17 9mm, a G26 9mm and an XD .40SW.

He shoots about the same with any of them, he shoots very well.

All are excellent guns.

I admit its not a great holster but it has served me pretty well for the 2+ years I've used it. I wear jeans and a tshirt everywhere i go - including work, so i decided the IWB was the best route. I've been eyeing a few others over the past couple months but have been having a hard time making up my mind.

There are now drop in parts that help the trigger both on over-travel and reset.  I don't have them on mine but I hear good things about them.  I have the .45 Service and the .45 Tactical and they are nice shooters.  Grip size is sweet for a double stack .45,

I really tried to like the XD. I wanted to, but the M&P quickly stole me. The XD was like a Glock, but felt worse, if possible.

Fixed. They don't care about us. They just want our money. Everybody's a capitalist at heart---even the europeans.

I heartily agree as I am an owner of a XD45 and I am looking at getting the compact model soon.    Great shooting pistol with the grip angle of a 1911.

I was dead set on a G17 and tried both at the request of a friend.  I bought an XD the next day.  Got a used 4" XD9 for $320.
