ok, moving parts completely irrelevant to cycling/firing of gun.  Oh noes, .45acp in a carbine is too much recoil ahhh!!!!!!!!!

IIRC it was originally designed as a FA carbine, and the moving parts greatly reduced the recoil in FA, and aided in accuracy.

see, heres my problem.  Is it really unmanagable otherwise?  Granted the only full auto .45 ive shot was a grease gun, but come on, it aint that bad.

Basically, they designed a short action that redirects much of the recoil and action movement vertically so they could put the pistol grip right behind the barrel.
