It is a good price, for that pistol.
The glock 30 is a phenomenal gun. You ought to try both and see how they feel in your hands, if the glock fits you, I would say go with that. |

The Glock is a better combat type gun out of the box but if you take some time and work the bugs out of the 1911 you will end up with a MUCH better gun overall.
The pros of the Glock is like I said it's good out of the box. The cons are:looks like crap,really will not last as long(really) and you can't get all the goodies you can for the 1911 The pros of the 1911 are:with work it will be the better gun,last longer,my 1911 would eat more types of ammo that my Glocks would and you can do much more to fit the gun to just the way you like it. cons: you will need to do some stuff to it if you want it to be as good as the Glock. Not any real big money but you will find in time there to ruff out of the box. |

The Glock is outstanding when you consider weight, but I am kinda partial to 1911's. For concealed carry go Glock, for everything else 1911.

That does seem like a nice gun but it is out of my budget. The thing is I probably will not have the time to do to much to the pistol or be firing it to often. I guess I am looking for a good gun out of the box and at an affordable price. I have pretty much spent my time and money on the 2001 LEGP on accessories and ammo. But Thanks for all the input!

They are both fine .45's that go about business in very different ways. The Glock 30 is about 24 ounces unloaded and the Springfield 1911 full size is about 38 ounces unloaded. It also depends on weather this is a carry weapon or just a shooter. You must get them in your hands to really see how they feel. I prefer the Glock 30 over the 1911 for a concealed carry weapon for it's lighter weight and smaller dimensions, and if you really don't care about high caps, the Glock 36 is even smaller and lighter. Some shooters do not like the Glock's point of aim and overall feel. I like the 1911 as a SHTF sidearm or as a shooter. Very strong and reliable. Proven in combat many times over. However, it is all very personal and different for everyone. Also, I like my weapons very close to perfect out of the box. The SA 1911 can be modified more than just about any pistol made, but I think the Glock 30/36 is already optimized and very accurate right from jump. Good luck with your new weapon.

what oneshot1kill said. personally i like the glock, but then i am tired of working on 1911's and throwing money at them in order to make them work. just got done with one today for a buddy (1911). what the heck, 4 hours out of my weekend so he can brag up his shooter next weekend. do i sound bitter? no, just tired of having to tweak the old warhorse. flame away lads
