Had a teacher, 4th grade that pulled that crap on me.
I DID have enough gum for everyone and started passing it around.  Got sent to the principal's office. anyone else do that as a kid? |

It WAS BS. Principal did what principals did at the time. Ranted and raved and told me I was a bad boy. I was smart enough to STFU and not argue with him. You couldn't win. |

I had a 9th grade english teacher that would make you toe a line about 6 feet from the trashcan and spit the gum at it. If you missed you got a lick from her paddle, if you hit the can you were good to go. Repeat offenders got the lick anyway.
