I know during the Gulf War our friends from across the pond borrowed whatever spare M-16's that were avalible because their SA-80's are major POSes, especialy in the desert and artic...Or it could be that recee units get their pick of the aresonal.

Well actually it's because he didn't know where the bolt release lever was on the side so he just pulled back the charging lever to release it. Or,,, Although they were using M-16s they were using some POS magazines with defective followers that won't hold open the bolt after last round. This picture actually looks like Mark Walburg on The Three Kings movie right before he shot the guy on the little hill. |

Yeah, yeah, you're right Retrodog, that's why he's wearing BRITISH cammies and a BRITISH kevlar helmet! I know Hollywood messes up sometimes but not that bad. Marky Mark was wearing 6 color desert cammies and USGI PASGT Kevlar helmet and vest.

Actually some people claim that the Sterling 40s are better than the USGI 30s.
Don't confuse this with USA Brand junkers 40. Sterlings do work. |

I think I read somewhere that some British special forces units are actually issued M16s,
Not familiar with what they call their different units, but I think it was some type of airborne unit. |

The SAS more or less refuse to carry the L-85A1/SA80, and normally carry M16s, which they refer to generically as "Armalites."

The SAS and other British special forces units have carried various models of the M16 from Borneo to this day. Users along with the SAS are the SBS of the Royal Marines and Pathfinders from the Paratroopers.
According to latest info the SAS and other special operations units are being equipped with Diemaco carbines, some were used in Operation Barras in Sierra Leone, where Brit units rescued captured soldiers. |

HK is rebuilding them to get them to work. FOX last week was showing a bit from the USMC Mountain Warfare Center in North California near Yosemite. Some RM Commandos were visiting and they had the SA80's still. |
