Their cable modem service has been continually getting worse for the two years I've had it. Slower, more bottlenecks and outages. They also put in a POS ethernet card (which I should replace) which won't connect 1/5 times it boots. And after disconnecting my cable accidently and eventually scheduling an appointment to reconnect it, they insisted on replacing my motorola modem (which I never had problems with) with a "better" docsis modem, (faster - my ass!) a com21 POS that will not boot correctly 1/4 times. And don't bother calling them unless you want to talk to somebody with a thick indian accent. I guess they've outsourced their support.
Oh yeah, and after cancelling their automatic billing by my credit card (supposedly for the customers benefit!!) they now send me a bill, but only every other month. Have no idea why that is but I get a lot of late charges and phone calls from them. Even after three months overdue once they didn't cut me off. Probably too incompetent to figure it out!
Doc, you might want to see if you can get ameritech DSL. I can't. They were supposed to be coming out with a cable modem service of their own, but I've heard that for like two years now. Can't trust any of these bozos.
Of course @home is bankrupt now :)
