Dutch Bishop wants Christians to call God 'Allah'

"Allah is a very beautiful word for God. That's his opinion. I prefer God, Jehovah, Jesus, etc. Shouldn't we all say that from now on we will call God 'Allah'?" No. I also won't call God 'Budda', 'Bagwan', 'Set', 'Wodin', 'Baal', 'Cthulhu', or 'Flying Spaghetti Monster'.asked Bishop Martinus Petrus Maria Muskens in an interview on Dutch TV this week. "God doesn't care what we call him." I've a feeling He'll get kind of sore if we go calling Him by the name of another religion's false god.
Muskens, the Roman Catholic Bishop of the southern Dutch town of Breda, is known for previous controversial remarks suggesting the poor should steal bread Or get a job instead of stealing from others.and advocating the use of condoms to control the spread of AIDS. It's not nearly as effective as simply not having sex outside of marriage, but it's better than nothing. I fail to see the controversy.
As quoted by Radio Netherlands, three decades ago, when serving as a missionary in Indonesia, "someone like me ... prayed to Allah yang maha kuasa [Almighty God] for eight years and other priests [did so] for 20 or 30 years. While reciting the Koran? In the heart of the Eucharist, God is called Allah over there, so why can't we start doing that together?" They don't call OUR God 'allah'. They call the muslim god Allah.
The bishop further noted that in Arabic-speaking regions, Christians speak of "Allah" as Westerners might speak of "Lord," and indeed were using the term in Aramaic before the rise of Islam. Allah was an arabic moon god in a pantheon of gods that they worshipped prior to the rise of Islam. In no way was he ever related to or associated with Christianity, nor did they call him Allah in Aramaic since his name over there is Jehovah (varying spellings on that, and they say it with a y sound instead of our j). Either this bishop is incredibly ignorant of things he should know about or is a fucking liar.
But why the need for the switch now? "In the last days, good will be called evil and evil, good."
"If Muslims and Christians address God with the same name, this contributes to harmonious living between both religions," read a statement on the Web site of the Breda Diocese. No, it doesn't. Muslims aren't supposed to hurt Jews or Christians, but for some reason that's their favorite thing to do in the whole world. Having us call God by their god's name is just one step closer to letting them WIN. Their goal is world conquest and everyone worshipping Allah, and you're just making it that much easier for them.
The diocese is careful to note that "the idea of calling God 'Allah' in the Catholic liturgy in the Netherlands has not been discussed as a component of diocesan policy, or as a policy of the Dutch [Catholic] Church." Translation: "We think it's fucking stupid but we don't want to piss off anyone with a suicide vest."
