A new wing to the hospital I work at is being built, and up on one of the I-beams at the very top sits an American Flag and a Chrismas tree/pine tree. I've also seen this at two other construction sites. What's the deal with the tree?

 Never heard of that one . The Ironworkers International Union says that it's a Northern European tradition . Even they have conflicting explanations for the Evergreen tree . Still commonly practiced in Germany , even on residential construction .
