IF you can, I highly recommend that you come to NYC and get up close and personal to "Ground Zero". Call it a pilgrimage, if you will.  You will never forget the sight or smell of it, and I think that's very important.
Don't put it off.

Been there, but if you can find the Whiskey Ward on Essex, you're welcome to buy me a beer. [:p]

Well, I could see a band at the Mercury Lounge, stroll over to Katz's for some pastrami, and then pop into the Whiskey Ward.
Deal.

BTW, Major, i don't think too many people are hip to flying these days, we could hope for some NJ or PA or even New England people though...

Next week is bad for me - I'm leaving for Baltimore on Sunday and won't be back until probably Friday.  If we could make it next weekend, I'm in.

That works for me.  Usually, anytime is good for me, but next week I've got to be in Philly and Baltimore.  After that, I'm good anytime.

Only if I can carry.  I go no where now where I am not allowed to defend myself or my family.

NYC wants my tourism dollars, they better get with the new realities of the world.

So I guess you don't go into post offices, either.

You can carry, if you want to. There's nothing stopping you.
If you get caught, you just get in a little trouble, that's all.
If you're discreet, the only reason you'll get caught is when you use it to save your own life.

Definately go into post offices, schools and what not armed.  Silly not to, this is my neighborhood after all.  Won't go to a place like NYC where the common man is not allowed and frowned upon for protecting his family, just makes no sense.  YMMV.
