Right now, I think it`s just a security precaution. They probably want to make sure no tail end charlies get a lucky hit. I`m sure they were hoping to decapitate the government. I`m sure they would have crowed that killing George W. was Allah`s revenge for Desert Storm.

It is SOP that the Pres and VP are not together. Think about how often you see them together at any time, almost never.
