No, type N are a unique kind of batteries. Go to Wal Mart, KMart or Target and you will find type N.

differnt battery all together.
they are not cheap. MAKE SURE you take them out of the site while not in use. mine runs the down over time even if powered off. |

I went with the AA model just becuase N batteries seemd like a PITA. Plus they are a lot more expensive.

They're just 1/2 sized AA. Home Depot, Radio Shack, Fry's maybe. More expensive than AA's but not like lithium AA's in price.
I've got them in mine and they (like any alkaline) will run down, used or not. If they made a lithium N battery I'd get it for the convenience. 24 for $14.95 on eBay Duracell. i have both. the weight difference is a moot point and the extra length is more than worth the cheaper batteries and longer battery life. |

+1, I keep several spares in the grip and stock, never know when they're gonna be dead when I go to turn it on, gonna go with the AA model next go round.

Your sight should come with batteries if it is new.
For your next set, Froogle "N type battery" order a 12 pack for about what a blister pack of 2 costs at WalMart and sleep easy. You really should have known  ETA: They are not CR123 batteries. If they were, they would be called CR123. N-type alkaline are the same diameter and chemistry as AA alkaline batteries but they are shorter. |

I think, think mind you that I read they will work with rechargeables but will not perform some function that they will with non-rechargeable. Not near my notes. |

as i recall the low battery functions won't work as nicad's tend to put out consistant voltage till almost dead. that said AA are cheap and run a long time in these. like dude said above it should come with a set for first use. |

I have the 511 and the N type batteries can be found in any drugstore or pharmacy. They're a common medical battery for pacemakers and insulin pumps. Never had a problem finding them.

Why do Eotech's line of sights take so much more juice than an Aimpoint? My Aimpoint M3 says it's good for aproximately 50,000 hours or so on setting 7. That's almost 6 years with a little lithium "photo" battery!
 I just leave it on setting 7 all the time.  I keep a spare in the little battery holder on my LaRue mount and I'm good for 10 years!!I'm not ragging on Eotech. They make good sights. I'm just curious why there is such a drastic difference. Is it because there is a ring in addition to the dot or something? |
