I do know that it is easier said than done.  

I've watched other folks just tap one rock against another rock a few times and viola' a nice blade or point.

Me?  I have only successfully pulverished a few rocks.  Definitely an art.

If you ever have a chance to go to a knapin, do it! You will learn more just by watching than reading a book about it. My points are by no means art but im sure they could kill something.

I reknap my old flints after they're too chipped up to spark well on the frizzen. It works ok and extends their life.
The chief problem for me is actually finding naturally occuring flint or chert around my area.
