The bottom is marked, from the left hand side to the right -

Left Hand top:  an 11 point star with a block D in the center

Left hand bottom:  Made in England

Center Top:  The Trumpet & banner of James Dixon & Sons

Center, center line:  James Dixon & Sons

Center bottom:  Sheffield

Right hand:  49 |two blank spaces| 10OZS

The first question is the meaning of the 11 Point Star Mark - does this denote pewter (or "Brittania metal")?

What about the 49?

The flask dimensions are 6.5 inches long X 5 inches wide X 1 inchg thick.  The lid is a screw on style with cork seal.

I have found several similar flasks from this maker, but this one has no sterling of plate hall marks that I can identify, and I'm stumped.  [10OZS is the capacity.]

I'll see about posting photos tomorrow.

When someone is drowning, do you describe the water?  Just drink out of the thing.
