Yep, sounds like an overheating problem. clean out the case and fans if you haven't lately.

I had a video card in my old computer that would cause that. Blow out the inside of your case real well. Blow out the video card fan and CPU fan.
That's where I would start. |

depends on how old it is. There was a bad batch of caps about 3 or 4 years ago. Most of mine started going last year, but it depends on how long the computer is on.

download speedfan and see what your cpu temp is at
Do you have an internal speaker? Some modern mobos will give you audible alarms for overheating and other things. |

It really does sound like heat. Make sure all the fans are turning and blow out any dust with some compressed air. Although it could be something (faulty switch or a short somewhere) sending a reset signal to the motherboard too. When you check the fans look for any loose staples or paperclips too.

Check for overhearing. Clean out all the air vents, etc., and make sure all the fans work.
Make sure the air inlets are not too close to a 21" Sony CRT heat generator.

either overheating, bad memory, or faulty power supply.. (I think overheating is least likely, as it usually turns off the computer not restart it (as far as the cpu goes anyways, video card can be a different story but you should see graphics errors long before a restart))
