Today is powder day! We had several inches of new snow last night. It is spring snow so it is wet and pretty heavy. The base is icy so be careful. The tunder and lightning during the storm was pretty impressive.
I'm gonna go shooting. SRM |

Yeah thanks for reminding me! I had a full 7 day a week ski pass this winter. I skiied once. On a good note, this was my second year in biz for myself, and I saw HUGE increase from the prior year. I'll just have to hike and ski in another week or two.

I can use my snowmobile in the summer. |

Skiing is gay. Snomobilers should always have right of way on the mountain, it exists for us, not the skiiers. You can have the mountains when we are done with them. |
there really is nothing gayer than snowmobiles.
maybe jet skis, but at least the chicks wear bikinis |
Actually, there is. Skiing and snowboarding. |
ETA Skiing has been around for over a thousand years. Snowmobiling for less than a hundred... who do the mountains exist for? Snowmobiles are fun and usefull for getting me out to good terrain (which is why my friends and I have snomobiles). I have never had problem with sharing the hill with them either. But that doesn't change the fact that skiing is infinately more extreme, challenging, and hardcore than snowmobiling. It requires a great deal more physical strength and athletic skill. You can go to snowmobiling magazines and not come up with gnarlier pictures than what I have posted from my own work, much less what I could post from skiing magazines like Powder, Couloir, and Freeskier. Face it... you only go as big as snowboarders... |
for starters, "snowmobiles" are a means of transportation.
"snowmobiling" is a hobby for lard asses. |
Cant afford one huh? Or is the speed too much for you. and I am FAR from being a lard ass. My snowmobiles are more important than most peoples lives. |
You may not be a fatass but realistically snowboarders are far more physically fit than your average sledder. A $5K machine makes up for the pot belly. ;) As far as cost, my ski gear could be traded for a decent sled but why would I? Plus, I love the snowmobilers who spend $10,000 on a new tricked out 700 longtrack but won't buy a $300 avalanche location transceiver... then they go out, highmark, slide, and I dig up their corpse. The only thing better than that are the snowmobliers who put their transceiver on their pack strapped to their machine... then SAR locates their machine instead of them... |
Both of my snowmobiles were more than $13,000 Gonna trade one in for the new M1000 when I see one locally, probably later in the year. |
Yea, Im just a fat ass slob on my sled...
You fucking dunce, go massage your ski pole. |
So your combined snowmobiles are worth more than the average ARFCOMer's car... and you still can't do stuff that is as nearly as extreme as what I skiers can with $1000 of ski gear. Too cool for school ;)
Pictures speak louder than words... I don't see anything coming from you... Next will you pontificate on why jetskiing is more core than whitewater kayaking? ;) |
I have chunks of snowmobilers in my turds. |
Extreme!!!!11!!!1 I could care less about "Extreme". You probably drink Mountain Dew don't you |
I have the skulls of skiiers in my track. The right of way on the mountain is directly proportional to horsepower. |
Seriously though....snowmobiles are great.
If I hurt myself on the mountain, I only have to hike down two thousand feet or so before the ski patrol can use the snowmobiles to get me to a helicopter. Mountain taxis....yeah that's it. (but only for the flat part of the mountain, of course) Thanks snowmobilers! This Busch Light is for you! (that's what you guys drink, right?) |
Seriously though, skiing is great. I just wanna see you guys ski back up those "extreme" mountains. Of course, if you are in the eastern part of the country, you can in no way, shape, or form refer to the as mountains. They are dirt mounds. Snowmobilers drink bourbon, like real men do. Skiiers can continue to drink their Keystone Light and shop for their purses. |
Coffee, very black. So I'm still waiting for some proof of what makes snowmobiling better.... This guy has more HP than your sled, better yield. Snowmobiling as a sport is what happens when you take a work tool and try to turn it into a toy. It's like a tractor pull except with snow. Snowmobiling Jr. Those that can, ski. Those that can't/are too fat but have oodles of money, compensate by snowmobiling. |
Keep telling yourself that. Must be jelousy. And yes, I do make way for those guys. I get to drive one in the winter, my company owns one to get access to our wireless internet backhauls in the winter. |
Getting from point A to point B to powercycle wireless routers... that is an excellent use for snowmobiles...
I use them to get me from pt A to pt B (which is closer to pt C, good terrain) With SAR we use them to shuttle rescuers/equipment from pt A to pt B and of course to search for lost snowmobilers... No skier is going to fight you for a flat meadow except maybe a cross country skier. And still no pictures of why anyone should be jelous of snowmachiners... Except this one: Adair in his youth... dreaming of a tractor with skids |
Shows how much you know about technology. We have a snowcat, not a snowmobile for that. I do construction in the winter, put up large antennas, battery back-ups, wrap boards, etc. etc. etc. Its not just for powercycling routers. You are just jealous, thats why you attack like you do. I will let you drive my redline or my new M1000 this upcoming winter. I will even spring for gas. |
Oh, they are not both me, not at all. |
see, that's another thing....I can pack my gear up and head where ever....even Argentina while it's summer here. snowmobiles....not so much. but you can sled across ponds and boil brats. |
I am too busy in the summer fishing on my boat, then to sled across ponds more than once. We do have a sled race acrosss Philips lake, once a year, but other than that, is all about fishing for me in the summer time. Not going to Argentina. |

TheAv -
Those are some incredible pictures. I ski but am not anywhere near that level of skill. Maybe if i get stationed at Ft. Carson, CO, i will be able to go out skiing in some real stuff more than once a year for 4 days... Oh, and skiing >> snowmobiling |
