Thank Heavens the Media types are willing and able to endure such Hellish conditions so as to be able to interpret reality for us.

I honestly believe that with all the different news outlets (and especially things like FOX news and MSNBC), the press is exactly what we make it - nothing more and nothing less.

Like daytime talk shows, the press only provides what the viewers want.  The are totally driven by advertising revenue and ratings, nothing else.  They each identify the demographics they want to make happy, and then they do so.

I will agree with stipulation. The majority of  people who sit around on their duffs and live vicariously through television are the anti's. They can't cope with life and its risks so they live through the tube.

The pro's are usually out actually living life and not watching it on a tube and having their brains turned to mush.

I am sure someone will see the irony of me saying this via my computer but the web and its components have become a haven for conservative types who have turned off the mass media.

Yup, these soccer moms who live in the 'burbs see the shootings on the poor side of town via the TV NEWS. They're largely removed from it firsthand but it looks bad so they jump on the gun control bandwagon to "do something" about it. Makes them feel good about themselves, like they're helping out those less fortunate than they are. It's just a passing fancy for most of them though. Their level of committment isn't nearly as high as ours. Witness the fizzling out of the "so-called" Million Moms.



True. I get things from conservative sites that I would NEVER see in mass media. The web is a great source of accurate information and ideas. Free Republic started on the web and gave birth to TRT (Tyranny Response Team) and Second Amendment Sisters. I can't think of any other way that kind of activism would get started except for the internet.
