I'm not the best with my drug slang, but I was watching a commercial on TBS for "Lord of the Rings" and at the end, they said "When Gandolff is Riding the White Horse, middle earth better watch out." Isn't that slang for snorting coke or smoking crack?
White horse, or horse, is slang for heroin.
"If you wanna ride, don't ride that white horse" |
...I'm pretty sure the books came out WELL before crack and some time before that slang was used for cocaine. |
The phrase used wasn't from the books, it was just an advertisement that TBS wrote for the movie. |

Sorry, I forgot to flip my nerd switch to "on." Okay, I just haven't gotten past midway in the second book yet. I keep getting distracted. |

Heroin. Also see: Double Eagle, smack, China White, H, junk, Mr. Brownstone.
Clinical pharmacists: we don't JUST know Prozac and loop diuretics. We like ketamine, too. |

Ride the PONY?? PONY, a small HORSE? as in a small dose of "H"?? Hmmm...
Okay, so maybe Buck Owens and Cheap Trick weren't singing about "H" - but there are a lot of songs about drugs, some anti-drug, some pro-drug use. |

Ozzy said it before G-N-R.....
Mr.Crowley BTW...Not knocking Guns, but Ozzy rules! Travis |
People tell me I'm crazy when I say this song is about heroin. |
You forgot Iggy Pop - Lust For Life I'm sure more of his stuff was about it, but this one's especially funny because it's now used for fun family cruise liner commercials. |
Just for the record, this is where I get my online moniker:
White Horse ...and no, you may not ride me. -White Horse |
YOu have any idea on who Alister Crowley is? Obviously not........ |
A hint: many of these songs (and this one in particular) refer to the white horse in the book of Revelations... Not Heroin, and NEVER cocaine. |
So do they know something that the rest of us don't? |

How is Fire and Rain about heroin? I thought it was about JT's fiancee who died in a plane crash. And Rock 'n Roll heart by Clapton is a cocaine song, not a heroin song. "Hotel California" is a heroin song, too. "They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast" "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." It's all about addiction, man. |

Dave Matthews Band
Rhyme & Reason Oh well oh well so here we stand But we stand for nothing My heart calls to me in my sleep How can I turn to it 'Cause I'm all locked up in this Dark place - and I do not know I'm good as dead My head aches - warped and tied up I need to kill this pain My head won't leave my head alone And I don't believe it will 'Til I'm dead and gone My head won't leave my head alone And I don't believe it will 'Til I'm six feet under ground How long I'm tied up My mind in knots - my stomach reels In concern for what I might do or What I've done It's got me living in fear Well I know these voices must Be my soul I've had enough I've had enough Of being alone I've got no place to go Chorus . . . In my grave Lying wired shut and quiet in my grave Leave me here Leave it to me to waste here So young here I am again Talking to myself A t.v. blares Oh man oh how I wish I didn't smoke Or drink to reason with my head But sometimes this thick confusion Grows until I cannot bare it all Needle to the vein Needle to the vein Take this needle from my vein my friend Chorus . . . In my grave Lying lying cold in my grave Reason - my reason Take my head off this terror I'm fearing I'll come back I'll see My mind's all wiped clean The needle Make my great escape I'll see the cold in time My head leaves me behind Let me fade away I seem caught in time My head leaves me behind Body falls cold And I see heaven |

Ya'll are all wrong. Means wearing a kotex instead of using a tampex.
With as many sandy manginas we got around here, that should be common knowledge. wganz ¶ |

That's not a very good list. First thing that stands out is "Kick Start My Heart" by the Crue was written after the band got off H, coke and alcohol. The song is about gettin' their kicks from things other than drugs, not about getting high on H. The other is, how can you come up with a list like that and leave out Skynrd's "Needle and the Spoon"? Doesn't make sense to me! cc, out. |

I thought so too. My F-I-L calls it "riding the cotton pony" |

The Beatles, "Happiness is a Warm Gun"
She's not a girl who misses much Do do do do do do oh, yeah She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand Like a lizard on a window pain The man in the crowd with the multicolored mirror on his hobnail boots Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy working overtime A soap impression of his wife which he ate and donated to the National Trust I need a fix cause I'm going down Down to the bits that I left uptown I need a fix cause I'm going down Mother Superior jump the gun Mother Superior jump the gun Mother Superior jump the gun Mother Superior jump the gun Mother Superior jump the gun Mother Superior jump the gun Happiness is a warm gun Happiness is a warm gun mama When I hold you in my arms and I feel my finger on you trigger I know nobody can do no harm Because Happiness is a warm gun mama Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is Happiness is a warm, yes it is, gun Ah, don't you know that Happiness is a warm gun mama |

That is the saying my ex black girlfriend used to say to me as she got on top.

thought heroin was the white dragon. |
How about America's "Horse With No Name," or the Rolling Stones' "Brown Sugar"?
Tonight when I chase the dragon The water may change to cherry wine The silver will turn to gold Time out of Mind |
I thought she referred to that as "my little pony"? |

Mr. Crowley, what went on in your head (Oh) Mr. Crowley, did you talk to the dead Your lifestyle to me seemed so tragic With the thrill of it all You fooled all the people with magic (Yea)You waited on Satan's call Mr. Charming, did you think you were pure Mr. Alarming, in nocturnal rapport Uncovering things that were sacred, manifest on this earth (Ah)Conceived in the eye of a secret Yeah, they scattered the afterbirth Solo Mr. Crowley, won't you ride my white horse? Mr. Crowley, it's symbolic of course Approaching a time that is classic I hear that maidens call Approaching a time that is drastic Standing with their backs to the wall Was it polemically sent I wanna know what you meant I wanna know I wanna know what you meant, yeah! (Solo) |

Heroin. Song they used is "White Horse" by Laid Back. |
I don't know... I just pulled some songs of Wikipedia. It's not like I have a list of songs about drugs stored in my caffeine overloaded brain. |
Maybe he thinks that because James Taylor is a junkie. I thought Fire and Rain was about an affair he had in rehab. |

Yeah, but it also refers to how a lot of addiction stems from chasing that first time you use a hard drug like heroin or cocaine. Apparently, the first time you get high is the best, and you fall into addiction "chasing the dragon", chasing that bliss, but instead the addict finds himself building up tolerance and using more and more just to maintain and avoid withdrawals. |
