I made the pilgrimage to Knob Creek today for the first time ever.
We got there at about 9:30am and had alot of traffic to deal with. We had to park in lot 4 so we had a nice hike in. The weather was cold and wet but we wore jackets and that made it ok. There were lots of gun porn to be seen and heard.
The barns had lots of vendors with just about anything you could want. Prices were not bad, I saw some ammo going for $150/1000 .223 and some Wolf 7.62 x39 for $120/1000. I got a good deal on renewing my NRA membership so that was good to.
If I was building a new AR I could have gotten the parts at good prices. Rack upon rack of uppers in any style you could want were to be found. I am looking to build a AR in .308 but the crowds kept me from finding the parts. I did see a few M1 Garands in good shape at $950. I loved watching the shooter and the .50's and the Mini guns.
I currently am having right foot problems that limit my walking so I could not enjoy iit as much as I could have but a day of booms, brrrrrrrrups of the Mini's, and the rattle of full auto made a good day.
I went with my brother who I recently gave a SKS to, and is now looking at EBR's and 1911's, and my 23yo son. The son got restless fast but I found out that he had PIE waiting at home, Oh to be young and have the world revolve around PIE.
All and all a very good day, well worth the trip, I plan on returning in the fall. And if this dang foot don't get better I'll get a handicrap sticker and scooter to make a better day of it. Oh and I will take plenty of cash and a shopping list.
If my post is a little disjointed I had to take some pain killers when I got home, sorry.

Where did you find 7.63x39 @ $120/ thousand. I paid $150 at the Ammostore.
The only 223 I saw was reload.

Dang! I lived in Ky (born & raised) for 39 years and NEVER went to Knob Creek. Now I guess I live too far away. I haven't even been home to see my Dad for over six years, just phone.

Disappointed too!! I live in Mich. its about 5 to6 hours. Gas prices and 3 M1 garands kept me home. But I sure did think about it.

Last time I went was in the fall of 2004. It's normally a lot dryer and warmer in the fall. Anyone that go's needs to plan on seeing the Saturday night shoot. I think I'll call my sons next week and see if they want to come along for the ride. It takes me about 12 hours to drive from the east coast of Virginia.

Dang I was not watching the name of the stall, it was early(before 10am local) the weather was bad and there were concerns about the crowd. I was in one one the stalls north(I think) of the main barn. We did not need any but the price marked was not what they were selling at. I asked about the price, as if "damn thats the price now?)  we were offered the lower price.
When the sun came out, and the traffic increased, that price dried up.
That goodness we did not need any.

They had came across the pa system alerting security that someone had grabbed a m60g3 off a table and if anyone saw someone carrying one to alert security. Then I never heard anything else about it.Didn't know if it was a misunderstanding or what??

I went years ago...1987 -or- 1988. It was, back then, a much more "Non-commercial" get together. I've still got my t-shirtfrom the first subgun shoot there.

I'd love to go again, but like others have said, with gas at $2.50-$3.00..It's not going to happen anytime soon.

I was doing video production work at the time and still have the tape that I shot, with permission, somewhere.

I'm going to try to get it on something digital and post it.
