Do these annoy anyone else? They make me fume and I'm not even a smoker.

i agree that they're annoying.  however, i would surmise that if it weren't for anti-tobacco advertising, most americans would still think that smoking is harmless

You forget liberal socialists do not understand freedom of choice, accepting consequence, or free will.

They are bullshit purely.  Though I do not smoke it makes me want to light a cigar the size of my arm in a smoke free business.

If smoking tobacco was banned all of those assholes would probably go after guns.  Let them gnaw on that bone if it keeps them occupied.

there was actually a thread about this not too long ago.

these ads are put out by the tabacco companies as is required by the government.  they serve their purpose well...  they piss people off.  when i first started seeing those commecials, i went out and bought cigarettes even though i stopped smoking a while back.  it was my sort of "fuck you" to the anti-smoking lobby.  "don't fucking tell me what i can or can't do!  i know they're bad for me, shut the fuck up"

yeah, they seriously pissed me off.   just try to ignore them now...

I think their logic is that us huddled masses are too unintelligent to make decisions for ourselves and therefore are completely unaware that smoking cigarettes is harmful one's health.

I find it strange that they blame the tobacco companies for the evil of tobacco and not the demand...the users.  Not that smoking cigarettes is evil...its just a bad idea.

I don't smoke.  I don't think anyone else should smoke either.  That being said, my biggest stock position is with MO, aka...Altria...aka...Phillip Morris.  Like I said, I don't think people should smoke, but I know they will and I intend to capitalize on it.  So far, it has worked out quite well.  Decent gains, decent dividends.

I have been called a hypocrite because of this, but I really don't think I am.

No, because everyone sees that it's BS, and they think, "Gosh, if these people have to exaggerate the ill effects of tobacco this much, it must not be bad at all."

Holy shit.  You are kidding me.

What a brilliant advertising move by the tobacco industry.  Piss people off with militant anti-smoking ads...to drive people to buy MORE of their product in a effort to say "fuck you."

Perhaps us huddled masses REALLY ARE that stupid.  Well, it hasn't worked on me...but has worked for my portfolio.

Maybe so, except for the VERY clear warning on every pack of cigarettes for the last thirty years!!!

Jeez, when will people begin to take responsibility for their actions??

that may be so.  i haven't seen these particular commercials myself.  are they of the "reefer madness" sort, except for tobacco?

I had a poll on this topic a few months ago...they seemed to be universally hated, even among people who never smoked in their lives.

What I hate are those uber-phony "Foundation for a Better Life" commercials.

I don't know what I hate worse, the "truth" commercials, or the health info commercials by phillip morris. Phillip morris wants to help people quit smoking, WELL WHY NOT QUIT PRODUCING YOUR PRODUCT!!!.

They are propaganda pure and simple. I’ve never smoked and I agree with their message. Doesn’t matter though, its still propaganda. And propaganda makes me sick…

Maybe someone should do a “Truth” commercial about how many people have been killed by propaganda over the years.

i dont see any libtard..socialistic...issues with them at all.
hell i applaud them, especially as a healthcare professional.

if anything they stand up to a MACHINE...that for decades has tweaked people into a habit forming carcinogenic mass.

for once..the "truth" about these companies and the manipulation of tobacoo and "coolness" factor of celebrities.

the masses have been played...to the max..died horrible deaths..and tobacco companies got filthy stinking rich on death and sadness.

kudos..to them if one kid is smart enough to listen..
adults on the other hand are usually to dense to realize it all.

tobacco companies targeting 12 and 13 year olds..is beyond accountability for actions..
companies have to replace the ones who died..or have gotten too sick to buff a butt.

America, where the govt. conspires with low-life, scum sucking parasites and greedy "victims of big business" to line both their pockets with billions of dollars stolen from owners and investors while forcing the makers of a legal product to persuade people not to buy it.

And we think these same politicians are going to stand up for our gun rights?   Against illegal immigration?  For lower taxes?   Good God, how stupid have we gotten!

Maybe if the federal government wants people to stop smoking it should stop subsidizing tobacco farmers.
