Stern is the original, and still the best.  he sucks, but everyone still wants to imitate his brand of suck.  "shock jock" radio may be a pile of shit, but he's still at the top of the pile

Stop it!  Even he admitted that he has been doing sub-par radio the last ten years.  Now ten-fifteen years ago, sure....he was the HEAT.  But no more.

sure, but who is better than him?  he's still #1 in any market he enters.  my local market (west palm) that carried him went from a 14 share to a .4 share when stern left to go to sirius.  stern consistently led in the ratings

Ah haaa, I new there had to be a few O&A fans here.

Yes, Stern was the King (WAS) but is looking like the clown now. Making some bad comment's about his cheap fans that won't spend the money, for his less than pare four day a week show. And then there's the Todd (BUBBA) thing. What a DICK , Less than funny by all means. And I'll LMAO if Howie has to fork over his Half a Billion in that suit.

I't would be funny as hell if the S.E.C. looked into the hole thing about the stock's.

But it's all a moot point when he, or anyone else, goes to satellite.  And you know when it comes to satellite, O&A has him beat by a mile.  Just look at the low number of subs that Sirius has compared to XM.  And it's quite obvious that the millions of listeners he prmoised would go with him to Sirius have not.

XM has 6.5 million subs vs Sirius' 4 million...it's not that low in comparison

Yes, now.  For a long time, XM had 70% of the entire market.  That is alot.

And XM looks to be profitable by the end of this year.  Sirius has no idea when it will see profits.  They are grossly behind in technology and are way over-paying on salaries.

The CEO of Sirius said on CNBC that they would be "net cash flow positive" by the end of 2006. Less than a week later XM said said that they would be profitable by the end of the year

I also don't beleave for one min. that sirius has 4 million sub's. Sorry, all the truck drivers out here have XM's. Very few with the other. Matter of fact Paccar now has XM in all new Pet's & Kw's. And more and more big companys are puting XM in there Co. rides.

I HATE Stern, and had never heard of O&A until I got XM (I canceled it a while back b/c I never used it). I finally listened to O&A one day around the time Katrina hit and laughed my ass off. Stern is nowhere near as funny as O&A.....I might sign up for the internet membership so I can listen to O&A again....

The only thing that pissed me of about O&A is the fact that I ordered a WOW sticker and never got it

NorthernBornRebel: The live feed from the internet is great if your in a office all day. My wife use's it. And on the sticker thing, just send them a SASE and they'll send you a few. Tell them you want 6-8 and they fill the SASE. The XM 202 WOW stickers a nice, better than the old WNEW ones.

Stern's not funny anymore, especially since Jackie isn't writing his material anymore (and the hole was never funny in the first place).

Is it true that Ferrell has to play Stern clips all night instead of having is own show because the pests ruined it?

I like the O&A and Bob & Tom shows, but Sterns show is still the most entertaining of the three.  Stern taking 30% of his regular radio audience with him is MASSIVE, who else could take 3+ million people with them to a paid service?  Not O&A evidently or probably even Limbaugh.  Stern is still #1, love him or hate him.

While the general appeal of the genre, as a whole, has gone down for me, I still think Howard is the king.     I like Anthony, but I think Opie is a pompous, unfunny, prick.    Besides, any radio personality that takes a stage name immediately goes down a few points, in my book.

I think that any of Howard's loss of audience (aside from the move to satellite) were those in it for purely the shock value.    Howard has essentially been doing the same show as when he started (I don't mean this in a bad way, but as an indication that he had a vision and stuck with it, vs. merely going for continual shock value).   Actually, it got a bit more tame in the last years he was on convential radio.   Other newer entries, like O&A and Bubba, pushed the raunch envelope much more, and those interested in purely that angle of the show defected.

I think Howard has more to offer than pure shock value, demonstrated by the fact that the show hasn't completely degenerated into a porn and curse-fest despite being able to now.   3 million+ listeners is a LOT to move over - I'm sure much more than who got XM for O&A.   However, I expect to see the rate of that (at least those that can be primarily attributed to Howard) to fall off, as those who needed their Howard fix would have already been signed up by now.

FYI for the person who said Howard called his fans cheap - That was taken completely out of context (come on guys, you should know the media don't give anyone a fair shake if it means they get a headline).   He was saying that he was so success-driven, that while even though the number of people that did move exceeded expectations, he was still not satified with himself, and wouldn't be until he regained all of his previous audience.

Great post. Sirius gained 3 million subscribers from the time Stern lefted testicle radio until a  week ago when They hit the 4 million subscriber mark. They are growing exponentially faster than XM. The world news and daily report 2 weeks ago projected that sirius will end the year with 6-6.5 million subscribers.

The big jump will be seen when Sirius gets Nascar at the end of the year. At that point they will have NCAA Football & Basketball, NFL, NBA & Nascar. Thats a stranglehold. Not only will XM lose those nascar listeners (a reported 1-1.5 million of XM's 6 million total) but sirius will gain those htta XM Loses. Well see what happens

Don't count on the Nascar thing just yet. Nascar has hinted that they will not trap them selves into a one contract deal. Take that for whats it's worth, but the France family now's how to play the game. If you don't beleave that, Just look at FOX and NBC. The proofs there on good old color tv.

I posted the cheap fans line, ha called all his fans that didn't come over CHEAP... Beacuse he will stand to lose Millions if they don't have a great increase in sub numbers.  THIS IS FACT.. Why do you think they are after his 500 million in the suite???? Becuase he lied in the last 6 months he worked on FM radio. And IF the SEC looks into the hole thing, He's FUAAAAAKKKK'D

Never realy liked Stern.  Same show every day.

He wrote a book about himself and starred in the movie about himself playing himself.

Weird.
