Just got out of the navy, did 9.5 years as a submariner and an instructor. My rating was a FT1(SS), which is a fire control technician first class submarine qualified.
It was a good experiance and dont regret any of it, It was just time for me to do something new. Damn its nice to be free! |
So, what cha gonna do now that you're not freeloading off the taxpayers?
I did it for 10 yrs though. |
That big blue tarp thing way up above you is the sky. Do not fear it. It will not fall on you. The big light is the sun. Don't look right at it. Kidding ya.
Thanks for your service. |
I thought you were gonna join the Marines and go after Rusted Ace's job?
Congrats, the DD214 is good thing to have! |
no way, this is my time to go protest "issues" with all the other jobless folks. |
Congrats, I did 9 years army and been out 20years. Live free Bro and thanks!
did 9 now going back for the last 11 for retirement benes. Reserves
Congrats, I remember that feeling of freedom...
Whats your plan for the next decade? |
make wine in eastern Washington(started a winery last year), maybe take a job if I get bored with the lag time between grape harvests. Finish school. Be a ski bum. Meet chicks that arent near any military bases. Eat, live and be merry. |

"Ain't no discharge on the ground"
Oh yes there is! I remember those times well-being a short timer rocked as well; nothing like answering a roll call with "Single Digit Midget, First Sergeant!" |

Congrats.
Going through seperation and getting my DD-214 was one of the highlights of my short military career. |
Congratulations, and thanks for your service. Enjoy your new found freedom.
I never knew you were in the service, you never talked about it. Or at least I dont remember it.
Followed by the First Sergeant saying "Drop" |

+1. And you're not really out. You're still in IRR for years to come. Pack the bag for that recall..... |
Congratulations and thank you for those 9.5 years of service. Glad to hear you have a solid plan laid out in front of you.
nope. Did my IRR time already. When you sign up for service you are oblgated for 8 years IRR..which you do on active duty. So, if you do longer than 8 years active then you dont have and IRR left. |
Just wanted to say......THANK YOU for serving! I truly appreciate the sacrifice all our military personnel make.
Congrats and Thanks. I missed the Navy so much I joined the Army...then I missed the Navy even more...
Damn, I would have retired this year. hinking.gif |
Yeehawwww!!!! Feels great, don't it?
I had certified copies of mine made in case I lose, or loose, the original. Good job, Gaspain! |
Congrats bud.... What kind of wine(s) ? Good wine is teh win ! I might wanna get my hands on a bottle. |
Not too mention they've almost completely stopped calling up IRR soldiers because hardly anyone showed up. |
Yeah, but those were some enjoyable pushups! |
Feels kinda good at first... then you'll start to miss it a little.
Put it in a safe place. You will need it for plaenty of jobs, etc. |
LOL! When I was short, I learned very quickly to answer, "Racer, how many days you got left?" with, "Not nearly enough <sir, chief, sgt>, I love it here!" |
Good Job.
Do you qualify for the GI Bill? If so I would get Uncle Sam to pay for college. |
He should, unless he opted out of the GI Bill, like I did. |
Congrats gaspain, now your a lowly civillian like ther rest of us DD214'ers.
j/k Good Luck in whatever you decide to do. |
Before you get too full of yourself...
Get/make a full copy of your medical record to keep/review. Also, apply to the VA through the service org of your choice. Best of luck! |
Hiring a "cult deprogrammer" can make the transition go quicker. And going cold turkey can be rough on some.
