I've got some project plans, and it calls for Masonite Board. What is this stuff? Is it the same thing that peg board is made of? Where can I find it?

Thanks,
Kris

IIRC, Masonite is a MDF-like material once used to make slat siding for homes. Very popular in the mid-90's, but since discontinued for that use because it doesn't take well to water.

MDF is Medium-Density Fiberboard. Basically sawdust and glue.

Yes, its basically the same as peg board but w/o the holes.  Home Depot/Lowes Etc...

We used it for the curves in forms when pouring concrete.

Masonite is paper laminated with resin under pressure and probably heat.

It makes a good sacrificial top for most work benches, and that's about all it's good for, IMHO.

Screw and nail holding is extremely poor, water resistance tohigh humidity is nil.

It's thin MDF, not particle board. I use it alot for autosound system fabrication.
