PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
  0317 AM CST THU MAR 30 2006

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL AND
SOUTHERN PLAINS AND THE LOWER MISSOURI VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON AND
  TONIGHT...

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS
OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS AND THE LOWER MISSOURI VALLEY
  THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE

         NORTHWEST ARKANSAS
         SOUTHERN IOWA
         EASTERN KANSAS
         CENTRAL AND WESTERN MISSOURI
         SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA
         CENTRAL AND EASTERN OKLAHOMA

SURROUNDING THE MODERATE RISK AREA...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM SOUTHERN ARKANSAS AND OKLAHOMA NORTH AND
  EAST ACROSS MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY.

A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND
SOUTHERN PLAINS TODAY PRECEEDED BY A COMPANION DEEPENING SURFACE LOW
AND COLD FRONT.  STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS IN ADVANCE OF THIS STORM
SYSTEM ARE RAPIDLY INCREASING MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY NORTHWARD
  THROUGH THE PLAINS THIS MORNING.

WHILE A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY THIS MORNING OVER
PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS...IN RESPONSE TO THE STRONG TROUGH
AND JET STREAM ENTERING THE PLAINS...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL
INCREASE RAPIDLY IN NUMBER AND INTENSITY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

MOST FAVORED AREA OF INITIAL INTENSE STORM DEVELOPMENT WILL BE JUST
AHEAD OF THE DEEPENING SURFACE LOW THAT WILL BE MOVING EASTWARD
ACROSS CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND THEN SOUTHWARD ALONG A DEVELOPING DRY
  LINE INTO CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.

THE VERY STRONG WIND SHEAR PROFILES AND AVAILABLE GULF MOISTURE AND
INSTABILITY SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUPERCELLS BY MID TO LATE
AFTERNOON.  IN ADDITION TO VERY LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING
WINDS...TORNADOES ARE LIKELY TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH ANY SUPERCELL.

THERE IS THE POTENTIAL OF STRONG TORNADOES DEVELOPING BY LATE THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING ACROSS PORTIONS OF EASTERN KANSAS AND
NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA SPREADING INTO WESTERN MISSOURI AS THE STORM
  SYSTEM CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY.

THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER
SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER
RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.

I know I am probably going to become known as 'The Weatherman" around here, but I always try to pass along alerts to potentially nasty weather.

I just heard thunder, not something you hear in ND in March. Most likly it will turn into a blizzard.

Looks like a shiny new cellar. Hope it stays that way and you never have to use it.

That looks just like the models installed at the president's Crawford, TX ranch.

BTW, I built myself a shelter back in 2003. It's an 8'x10" underground type with 8" thick steel reinforced concrete walls and a heavy duty steel door. Should the weather turn rough, I now have somewhere safe to go. It sure does give you peace of mind when a big storm is bearing down on you, though it still hurts when you look into your wallet after building it. LOL.

Bullshit!  You must be a Volunteer or Gator fan who is still smarting from getting their asses kicked by the Big Red.  And isn't Kentucky the sister state of Arkansas where hillbillies abound?

My yard is never going to get dry.

Not until it's too hot to go out there anyway.

Illinois is looking at some too.   At least we have a basement, .  Last one that went through was 15 miles away , hit Utica IL . wiped out lots  of houses, and killed 8 .    Firestation , EMT too.

The people went into a large , old brick tavern ,  .  I was in a tent along the Hennipen Canal .   Flew over me, and our house.   Wife has pisc,  She is not home yet .

Good luck every one.        Some of the people left their trailors for the tavern.    Trailors were fine.
