Some people live without cable tv. I have got 23 phone calls in the last 3 hours, mostly from people who want to talk a lot about nothing. I think some people like to talk just to hear their own voice. Im not answering the phone anymore today.

I try to keep the number around zero.

I set up my life so most of my communication is handled through email or IM. I don't like the interruption or BS of a phone call.

My least favorite thing is when people feel the need to extend the conversation once the original matter is handled - especially when I'm on my cell in traffic. Gee, sorry I can't chat about your life right now, but I'm driving near trucks that weigh several tons and I don't want to wind up dead because I was hearing about what you had for dinner last night.

I get at least 10 a day. Almost all work related. Sucks.

My company made me install an office line with an 800 number in my home. We usually have about 10 crews out working at any give time. I'm in charge of coordinating everyting.

At my house, I get about 10 phone calls from various telemarketers.

Most of the time they ask for a specific person, but I tell this person he's/she's not is not in at the moment(even though I am in), ask what is this regarding? and would they like to leave a message?  99.9% of the time you take up telemarketer's time and you don't have to listen to their sales spiel; and you don't miss any important messages that you want.  Of course, some telemarketers are happy just to talk any warm body, in that case you just hang up on them, no problem-O.

IBTP

I average way less than one call a day, maybe more like two or three calls in a busy week. So few calls in fact that I know who's calling by what time of the day it is. I don't need caller ID.

I probably get one call a week outside of work, if I'm lucky.

I don't have many friends, and the ones I do use email.

Dumped hardwired phone in 2000

Dumped cell in 9/05

Have Skype In/out but the # is a toll call for hardline local users ( not for cell users - go figure?)

I'm getting grumpy in my older age - I deeply resent people intruding on my private time. This also applies to unscheduled guests appearing on my doorstep.

Personal calls?  Maybe 1a day, probably less.

But at work, I do tech support on the phone.  My top was 45 calls in one day.  Now I average about 10 or so.

Minimum of 10.  At worst, I have to recharge the damn phone at lunch.

I talk about 2000 minutes per month with combined personal and work.
