Should I get the 80 hour unit?

or

Should I get the 40 hour unit with the DVD burner?

I've looked at other Tivo topics and it seems everyone is happy, so I think its time for us to buy into this.

All suggestions are appreciated.

40 hour and DVD burner mean that you'll have portability.
I have movies on my TiVo that are three years old and I rarely run out of space at 40 hours.

I have portability from my Replay 4504.  I just pull the files through the network to my PC then do with them as I wish.

Get the one with the DVD burner.  I've had an 80 hour unit for about 4 years and I recently bought a DVD burner to get some of this stuff to DVD.  Not that I'm running out of space, but I am just sick of looking at it on the menu.  Chances are that you will want to put some programs on DVD eventually for one reason or another, so it makes sense to go ahead and get the functionality.

You should be able to add either a bigger disk or a second disk to the 40 gig unit.  On the other hand it is remarkably easy to hook a cheap DVD recorder up to a TIVO and record all you like.  Or you can hack an 80 gig TIVO and download your programs via wireless network.

Now that we have Tivo, I just couldn't help myself.  Went to Best Buy, couldn't decide on size, brand, and features, so I just bought the one they said was best.  I like it!!, but $5K?...  Pioneer PDP-5061HD  - 50" Plasma with the works.  This is one area where I'll spend the extra money since I'll be married to it for about 15 years like the last living room TV I bought.

My new ZTR has to wait longer now...

Edited to reduce embellishment from 50' to 50"...

Explained to the wife, that it would increase my post count by 1...

What ever, post count by "1", you already have 5 posts on this topic.  Explain to your wife you need a bigger TV because you already have 5 posts.  You can at least get a 72incher!!!!!!
