Total BS. If our main battle tank can be knocked out by 25mm we would have serious problems.

Well, it could be true.  We all know that single shot .50BMG rifles can be used to shoot down airplanes.

That Bushmaster was getting full penetration (through and through) on the Iraqi soviet tanks with the DU rounds, IIRC, in this war.

The M242 doesn't do shit to M1's in BF2 !!

Don't we use DU in our 25mm cannons as well as 30mm cannons? It's much denser than steel and sort of forces its way in through armor, though the M1 is supposed to have really good armor. I am not sure if the Russians use DU, but I know the American and British forces do and it gives us a pretty nice advantage against other armor.

It's a combination of depleted uranium rounds and getting hit in the rear where the armor is thinest.

AFAIK there isn't a weapon feilded that can take out an Abrams in the frontal arc.

Mobility kills - through the engine grates, disabled the powerpack. But nothing through armor of any
consequence.

Nobody has yet asked the question:  Why was a Bradley shooting at an Abrams?  Or was it an ND?

Shouldn't friend making such claims have to back them up with trustworthy sources rather than you having to refute something that may never have happened?

But of course.

AP/Sabot/DU rounds in the M242 and DU in the 30mm(A-10/Apache).

Not if your troops have a secret M-1 tank killing round.

How would a Bradley (or similar vehicle) get within cannon range of a M1 without getting mauled?

Ever seen the movie with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan?  About her winning the MOH, IIRC?

Proper use of terrain and cover. Besides I wouldn't engage a M1 with the 242, thats what the TOW IIB is for. During Desert Storm, we used the 242 on BMP'S and other light armor, trucks etc., but when it came to tanks we always went with the TOW.

Here's the results of a TOW on a T-72.

Sure, WE can get within range of a T-72, but could any of our likely enemies sneak up on a M1 undetected considering all of the elint we have on the battlefield?

It's not like M1s are out there crusing around solo, right?

My unit was killing Iraqi armor with TPT rounds out of the Brad main gun...  they didn't realize it was loaded till AFTERWARDS...

So, I could see accidental mobility kills on Abrams with real AP ammo.

I saw an article which indicated at least one M1 took friendly fire in the rear, from an "Unknown" 25mm weapon, which resulted in a mobility kill. Several pictures showed nice clean little holes in the thin rear armor.

This happened early during the first week or so of the war, during an especially chaotic engagement, poor visibility was a factor the report stated.
