Dude...I've been flying for a LIVING pre and post 9/11.  I get checked EVERY time...EVERY where........You'd THINK they'd keep track...They don't.

I'm nice, polite, adhere to regulations, and, I speed right through.  I recite FAA regs to the screeners and, we both have a laugh and, I do my thing.  

"Do what ya gotta do" is my stock response.

I guess I just conform to speed my way through security and don't get mad about stupid stuff.

I am certainly no big wig.  I only fly 3-4 times per year and am rather pleasant about the entire thing.  The "pisses me off" is more a  statement of frustration that how I act at the airport.  I too smile and go right through.


The trusted traveler thing is agravating since it is outsourced to a private company and cost $100 or so a year....after the .mil spent $$$ clearing me while on AD. Another case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

Bring on the profiling!!!!  Last I heard, the Amish and Mormons had been cleared, and they think the terrorists are .......young male muslims....

If they kept track to ensure speedy passing for regular flyers think of all the people complaining that they are keeping records on ordinary citizens.

If you have SSS on the corner of your ticket, prepare to drop trow.  A sure way to make this happen is to purchase a ticket within a week of a flight.  I have it everytime i fly for work and purchase tickets close to my flight date, but if i have a trip planned in advance i usually do not get it.  I believe that other things  may earn you this wonderfully relaxing pre-flight adventure, but cannot narrow down any suspects.

You know what, there are tons of people that slip through the cracks and end up wearing the uniform.  I've known more than my share of idiots/scumbags.  Remember Tim McVeigh?  Yeah, he was in the Army.  Yes its an extreme example and I realize he wasn't on active duty when he bombed the Federal Building in OKC, but the fact is, he served.

No one wants to get checked 4 or 5 times before stepping on the jet, but you know what?  It's something we need to live with now.  The only way to even come close to ensuring safety is to check EVERY person and ALL their belongings.  Until that happens, the chance  for something happening will always be present.  It may be extremely slight, but it is there for every flight.

I was talking to an airline pilot about airline security, and he hated the fact that he'd get waived past the x-ray machine or whatever.  His rationale was even he should be subjet to being searched.  Badges can be faked.  You could name a thousand reasons.  There have been honest people that have done evil things for money.

No one is above being checked before boarding.  If you honestly feel like you're being singled out because you were "inconvenienced" then, well, whatever.  It's something we must accept.

Some small airports have security to go through before you get on the ramp.  One time my wife had a small knife is her purse, and security said she had to "check it with the captain".  Once we got through security, the "captain" (me) gave her back her knife, much to their chagrin.

If they only knew there was a loaded Glock 32 under the front seat of the plane.....legally.
