A police report alleges Dr. Joseph Matarazzo, of Quincy, Mass., wrote more than 100 fraudulent prescriptions for drug addicts in the last two years, the Boston Globe reported Saturday.
Matarazzo pleaded not guilty Friday in Quincy District Court to distributing the painkiller oxycodone, violating drug laws near a school, conspiracy to violate drug laws and uttering a false prescription, prosecutors said.
"I feel shame for knowingly distributing narcotics to drug users and for selling drugs for oral sex," Matarazzo told investigators, the police report said. "I really have no idea how many fake prescriptions I issued, but I know it was well over 100."
After the arraignment, Matarazzo was released without bail, but he surrendered his dentist's license and his right to distribute drugs, the police report said.
