An AR stock has no business on a rifle other than an AR-15.
Hopefully Sig realizes this. Sig 550 serises were not unique because they had Ar-15 parts on it... |
toss a folder on it and I'd be all over it, that's my only hangup. and I'm glad they ditched the A2 flash hider/comp that were in the first pics.
It just looks like another pimped out AR. Until they put the real folding stock on it, I'll pass.
If it had a folding stock i would be very excited,
the ar stock just doesnt look right. |
God almighty, where oh where did these images come from???????????
Ick. Big, bulky, has that "I want to look like an AR-15 look". Not practical.
+1 Didn't like it at first but I'm coming around to it. |
its growing on me maybe a vltor or a magpul stock on it wouild do it
I like the gun but the furanture is horrible looks like fobus/tapco stuff the pistol grip is the worst what is the optic? |
I'm with you, although a SOPMOD would look good as well. I too don't care for the pistol grip, but hopefully Magpul or someone will make a MIAD for it. |
From the ass kissers at the sigforum. |

I love it, could do with a different stock and grip, but thats minor quibbling. I will be an early adopter, I only wish it used AR compatible grips, mine would be getting a hogue asap, looks like it may take an AR style drip with some minor modification though. Thats a sexy beast, and being able to use my current AR mags is cool, as are the new snap together plastic ones that (should!) work with ARs as well.
Originally, I thought it was the concept of an AR stock on there bothering me. Now I'm beginning to realize it's THAT stock bothering me.
I'd buy one for the supposed $1k though. Add on a UBR or CTR stock and B&T handguard and I could live with it. |
How the hell can you predict that it isn't "practical?" Have you ever fired one? ETA: Looks good to me. Glad to see Sig offering something for the American civvie market. |
+ 1 Brazilian |
I am REALLY starting to like it. I would rather have an A2 fixed type stock on the 20" model though. The AR style stock on a carbine seems to be pretty practical, more so than the folding stock.
Me too, If it were available. |

They need to stay true to thier sig roots. It looks like they welded an ar's butt on to a sig rifle. I want an original sig look.
Ah CRAP, its growing on me
But it STILL needs a Side Folder IMO |
i won't buy one unless it has the original style stock.if they made one that was original I would pony up 2k easy.
tell me again why I want one of these?
looks like an M4 buttfucked an AKM and this is the offspring |
No one is forcing you too. Some of us are interested knowing the quality level SIG produces. |
Since the buffer tube isn't necessary with the Sig55X series system, how hard would it be to make a side folder to attach to whatever buffer tube attachment point they are using? I am guessing aftermarket or Sig factory options to accomplish it will be available within a month of market availability. |
I'm starting to like it also... Just god, please, Sig, get rid of the raised mount... Please !
all I see is a bling watermark for the sigforums. Is there a rifle in there? I can't see it very well.
Imagine that, a SIG with AR envy... gimme an original or don't waste my time. I have enough ARs |
I can barely make out a pony, fuckin copyright spaz that guy.
The other post advised that it will be able to accomodate the folding stocks, original 550 series handguards, and the upper receiver will be available without the raised rail. FYI.
+1 That rail is teh suk! |
From the looks of the lower receiver, it doesnt appear that the original sig folder will fit. The treaded part for the AR type stock looks to be part of the lower.
screw the rifle, I want more info on that OPTIC mounted to it............. |
Awesome! Can anyone please tell me if the the 556 in the first pic is technically a short barreled rifle? That's the exact model I would like (besides the raised rail). I'm assuming it's an SBR but I thought I'd make sure. And for crying out loud.....what is wrong with the people at that website? You'd think they had invented the stupid thing the way they are water marking everything to such an idiotic degree.... |
I'll take the one with the silencer and scope.
I'm kinda curious why do most people on this forum seem to hate this new gun? It seems cool to me. If you just wanted one of the original 55x series then pay the exorbant amount of money to get one. This gun seems to fill the requirements I have been coming up with for the last year. I can not wait to read a range report so we actually know how it shoots. |
I love it...it's a beautiful rifle...and I'm sure it would be "practical" enough on the battlefield. |
Not spending any of my $$$ for one in THAT form...I wouldn't buy one even if they were only $500. Looks like an Armalite AR10 instead of the "SIG that looks like it was ass-raped by First Samco" is in my future... |
Waiting for Classic Sig.
And that damn annoying Sigforums watermark is enough to make me NOT want to buy the fucking thing. |
