On pdf.
on second thought maybe not. |
You couldn't spell it right in the thread title even though you had the correct spelling in the link?
How about we don't provide links that go to theft of copyrighted material?
It's just a guess, but I'd bet that John Ross hasn't put his book out in pdf format for anyone who wants it to download it free of charge. |
I don't like clicking on stuff that I have no idea what it's about (because I'm lazy).
Cliffs notes anyone? |
I'm sure you mean well by doing this, but I'd can this thread quick while you still have an account intact. |
lots of other goodies too, assuming you just want an electronic copy of something you already own.
I already own Unintended Consequences |

I downloaded a copy months ago because Customs keeps seizing my copies..... apaprently my previous government thought it might give us ideas or soemthign
Perhaps you should edit your quote to remove the link. |
Honestly? They were seizing them? |
Can someone please tell me what this thread is about? i don't understand any of this.
Yes, by ALL means please EXPLAIN |
What is there to explain? Canada is a Socialist shithole. <-------Unfortunately still has to go back if he wants to visit relatives. |
An apt name? Unintended Consequences is a book. The original poster gave a link to a PDF copy of the book (illegally infringing upon the author's copyright). |
Canada has a banned book list, yup those "free thinking" liberal socialists up north maintain a list of banned books no idea if UC is officially on the list found this though www.john-ross.net/u_c_faq.htm
pretty much exactly what he siad, i don't know if it is "officially" banned, but Customs can do whatever they want, whih is why they seized 2 magazines on their way to me, that was a fight to get back, at least they told me they had them. |

Britain and, by derivation, Canada has no 1st Amendment. In the UK, many books are banned. Canadaian law is derived from British law. Unless changed (yeah, like they will make the effort to better things), they can ban whatever they like. They say they have certain rights, and they do, but they are only what the governemnt lets you hvae for the time being, without the inconvenience of a pesky written Constitution. That's why the liberals are trying so hard to wrap a wall of phony paper (legal findings and interpretations) around ours.

I have a deep and dark secret.................
I got half way through it and and gave up. |
Like "Red Dawn," it is overrated by the ARFCOM collective. "Enemies Foreign and Domestic," however, that is a mighty fine read. One of the best books I've ever read. |
Not surprised at that, given the lack of reading skill in our country, most folks simply take a look at the size of it and say" no-way". Sad though the piss poor state of reading. FWIW, I sold several cases of UC and still have my personal autographed copy which I've read more than a few times. Mike ETA - have to disagree w/ Wobblin above, while I have read EF&D, (more than once) it is "fiction" and while UC is too classified as "fiction" you'll find plenty of historical FACT in UC, making it a more worthwhile choice IMO. |
Goblin, please keep my copy of "Enemies" for your personal collection then, or pass it on to a deserving reader. I didn't enjoy it half as much as "UC". I bought UC when it first came out, and liked it so much I bought three more copies and gave them to friends-at the time there were no "first editions" because there had been only one printing. I remeber seeing Red Dawn when it opened, and again a few weeks later. It was fantastic on the big screen. Of course the DVD and VHS tape are pretty good, too. UC is about a gun guy who launches a war against the gun grabbers-but the back story takes up 2/3 of the book, and has lots of historical references and sub stories. I enjoyed the first 2/3 the most, as the last part is purely fantasy, in the sense of fiction, not daydreaming, and a little farfetched. |
I also liked Enemies Foreign and Domestic by Matt Braken (spelling?) the best. It was his first book, he was posting here when it came out! |
You don't have to do that, Tim. I appreciate the offer, though. |
Well, speaking as someone who's bought and given away about a dozen copies of UC, I'm quite grateful to BadCompany for letting me read it while my hardcover copies are in storage 8000 miles away.
I could not bring myself to finish this book. It could have been much shorter and still told the same story. And he sometimes gave way too much information about stuff like car engines or what not.
Unlike the original posted link, this one is legal and proper: Enemies Foreign & Domestic online chapters
Close to being as good as UC. The author sez that the sequel will come out later this year. Having read UC several times, I find it amazing that there are gun owners out there who haven't. It is every AR owners' wet dream. |
anyone have a copy they'd like to lend a brotha? I'm closing in on "A bridge too far" :)
I'll take it!! |

Interesting story, but John Ross isn't a very good writer and he desperately needed an editor.
Overrated, IMHO. |
I thought UC was a good book. Enemies:F&D is another good one. Vin Suprynowicz's The Black Arrow is in the same genre, although a bit more Zoro-ish.

I liked UC. However, I agree that it was probably twice as long as it needed to be, if not more.
+1 John Ross needed an editor or a better editor. Still a good read and compelling story. I just found myself skipping 10 pages at a time to get back to the story.
Now for a really sucky novel that was hyped too much, read Boston T. Party's Molon Labe. Boring and unentertaining. |
So you didn't get to the part with the lesbian sex? Pity. |
More of a how-to -- a very good read if you stick with it to the end. |
Amen. 1/3 as long and it would have been a GOOD book. |
Too long and TMI in many places. Some of the material was rated NC-17, too. That's XXX for you old guys. EF&D was much better, IMO. |
UC was one of the most blane books I've ever read. Ross's writing style is so boring it almost brings one to tears. I've had a copy on my book case since the early 90s and still havent finished it.
Interesting note...
The Cleveland Public Library has a copy of UC. I wanted to read it, and had the local (Athens) library order it....they all do a state-wide book sharing thing. I figure someone probably donated it. |
That's weird. I couldn't put UC down once I started reading it but Tom Clancy just puts me to sleep.
Don't know what anybody sees in his books or for that matter Clive Cusslers predictable damn books. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
Although I do suffer from dyslexia, my reading skills are very sharp. It was the goofy book that that gave me pause. The historical aspects of the book were on the mark, but the "story line" was amusing at best. I decided to use my time for more constructive endeavors. |
