My NordicTrack POS treadmill just shit the bed - any ideas for a replacement? It has to fold, have a good warranty, and cost less than 1500 bucks. I'm looking to buy right now, so it has to be a new model currently available.

Thoughts?

Check out Consumer Reports' last month issue.  They checked out some treadmills and rated them.

Check craigslist for a fairly new dust collector.

Spend the money on good running shoes and run. Use the difference on a new gun or more ammo. Or both.

Great advice. You'd be surprised at the deals you can get from the hippies on craigslist.

Ever think of a Schwinn AirDyne instead?  Gives me a great workout for a lot less than $1500.

Smooth Fitness treadmills (and specifically the 6.25 which is in your price range) seem to get good reviews: www.smoothfitness.com/

You can go to The Treadmill Doctors to read their reviews on different brands: www.tmdoctor.com/pages/home_treadmill_reviews.php

what kind of field?

flat field... grassy ...

damn i think i just answered my own question... ... maybe i have to lift my legs just a little higher each time due to the grass,,,,   and the thread mill is pretty much putting one foot in front of the other ..

even using the incline option...   its "diffrent" walking that field then 30 minutes on the machine
then again sometimes the machine is the only option  due to time weather...

end of thread hi jack...

and are your shoes different?

Grass offers more resistance than a perfectly flat treadmill.

A side note on treadmills.

We had the Pacific Shoreline Marathon in Huntington Beach yesterday.  The woman who won, Nadia Noorzai, of Irvine, CA only trains on a treadmill.....2:57.

My wife has a 2yo Sports Art for sale. $2500 new.
Pro model, extra long track. Very nice looking too.
We can let it go for $1000. We are moving.

I just ran on my Smooth 7.1 this am.

Very well made, a runer's treadmill, not a walker.

Built to take a beating, very solid, very heavy.

I have a pacemaster and Love it....  It's was $1600.......

It's a simple thing. Run on them, cheap one kill's my knees... You can tell the difference in about 5 minutes of running...

Most store's let you try before you buy.........

I would have to highly recommend "Smooth Fitness". I bought one six years ago and is still running perfect. The motors have a ten year warranty, but I have not needed to use it so far. Mine gets a lot of use, between me, my wife and even my brother comes over to use it a few times a week. They have all different price ranges, check 'em out.....  SMOOTH FITNESS

I went with this, I think I got a good deal - paid $1700 total. Built by True.
