My vote is for the XD.
Better Egonomics, better craftsmanship, lower price. What's not to love? |

You don't even know where Lake Superior is! |

Suuure I do. I spent some time in Ontonagon. |
You don't even know where Lake Superior is!
Everybody knows where it is! It's just to the left of Lake Wisconsin! |
Ontonagon? Where's that? |
Neither is better, they are both different. If you like apples you eat apples, if you like oranges, you eat oranges.
That's where they have the Indian Casino. When I got out of prison up there, my gang and I dressed up as Santas and we robbed the place. Lt. Dan was the leader. |

No dumbass! It's to the west, not the left. If you go left of Lake Wisconsin by the great circle route you'll be going north. |
Sorry for hijacking the thread. In all honesty, I've never owned a Glock & I've never even fired an XD. So, I have zero personal knowledge.
You didn't hijack it...I did. I've had 2 Glocks and 2 XDs. I still have both of my XDs (just bought another one about an hour and a half ago), but I dumped both of my Glocks. I think I may dump my HK P2000 at the next Market Hall show too (and use the money to buy another XD now that they have the 45 ACP out). |
That has never stopped anyone else from having an "opinion". |
I've shot both. Glock, hands down. Hell I'd get another 1911 before I picked up another XD.
Not to mention mention somebody will post this poll over in glocktalk and they'll get their panties in a wad and come over here and shit all over this. To each his own. I don't like the feel of the glock. Like the idea of a grip safety and shoot the XD better. I've shot a bunch of glocks. I just don't like the grip angle. |

don't be fooled by my username, my love has changed since i created this account, but i'd definitly go with a glock.
i have glocks, my bro in law has xd's after a long range day we were feeling lazy, so i suggested dishawasher cleaning while we ran out to eat. the result was a clean glock, and a xd that had to be proffesionaly restored. the dishwasher destroyed his xd, he had to replace a majority of his springs, get it refinished, and get a new barrel. |
Blasphemey! You dare to question the wisdom of John Moses Browning? That pistol was never meant to have an external extractor! Whew, back on topic, the Glock is the superior firearm. |
GLOCK, no question.
The XD was a good deal for $250 when it was the HS2000. Now, it's just another overpriced wanna be. |
By the way, this thread will answer your question. Awesome stuff, and will make you buy another Glock.

I have to admit that is damn impressive. I'd be curious to see how much of the same type of abuse the XD would be able to withstand. It wouldn't make a difference to me though...I can't draw a Glock and get a consistent sight picture every time I always have to tilt the barrel down slightly. Not a problem with my XDs. |

Glock--but only b/c its got a tad better quality and i can deal w/ the 'bad' style

I love my G21, but ever since the XD45 was even mentioned, I have wanted to atleast try one.
Last I heard they were only gonna do the XD45 GAP, what made them finally go and do an XD45 ACP? |
The Glock Kool Aid is strong on this board.
I own Both, My XD's are SUPERIOR. |
Question for you XD owners (particularly if you've got a Glock for comparison)... how is the recoil on the XD? Is it like the Glock? (I noted Glock recoil as being spongy... I did not care for it).
Thanks. |
I've had 3 HK pistols in my life. I had a P7 PSP that would heat up like an electric hotplate whenever I shot it. I had a USPC .45 that was had more muzzle flip then any gun I have ever seen in my life and I currently have a P2000. The P7 and the USPC .45 are both gone and the P2000 is fixin' to be. |
I love my XD. Much better than the Glock my wife has. XD is built a lot stronger from a mechanical design standpoint and lots more features.
Macman,
THe XD slides are Heavy, it really helps tame the the recoil. Even in the 3" versions of the 9mm and the .40. |
The recoil on my XD sub compact 9mm is a little sharper than most 9mm's I've fired, but not unpleasant. I haven't fired a Service (4") 9mm yet (I'll tell you tomorrow), but I did fire a Tactical (5") XD40 at IDPA a couple weeks ago and it was almost like shooting a BB gun. |

I dont know all that much about Glocks other then what theyre like to shoot and how they FEEL in my hand. I dont know which Gen of Glock we're even on. I know that GLOCKS shoot very well. I know they don't feel right in my hand. I know the XD's shoot very well and I know the XD's FEEL very good in my hand. I don't know about throwing any guns in the dishwasher and I don't know about dropping them off 5 story buildings onto concrete and having them still work fine. I dont know some of these things because I dont do them. I would imagine that if and when the XD's are on Gen 4 or 5 they will be equal to a Glock as far as durability of finish. I know that my XD is pretty much point and shoot and I know I would have to retrain myself to get that performance out of a Glock and I dont feel I should need to. For feel and comfort I say XD hands down.
Thanks... I have and use steel framed pistols and was just wondering if the XD was better than the Glock in the recoil department. I can handle the recoil... in fact, let me handle the recoil and I'll get used to it (as I have...). The spongy frame dampened recoil bothered me with the Glock I shot. I wanted to like it, really I did! Mebbe I'll rent an XD sometime. They do look interesting. |

SIG of course j/k I have shot both XD's and Glocks. The XD fits my hand much better and a Glock feels like a turd when I grip it. I cant wait to put a Glock down. That said, I am very accurate with a Glock. Go figure |
