What is your bump in the night gun and where do you keep it. I take an HK USP 45 out of the safe each night and place it on the nightstand.I sleep like the dead so I'm glad I have a good burglar alarm. That thing is so freakin loud it almost gives me a heart attack when it goes off. The dogs set it off twice is how I know! If the wife and kids are gone I'll sometimes get out the AR or the Mossberg 500. When she's home and I get one of those out she rolls her eyes and asks if I feel inadequate or something.Lets hear from someone else!

HK USP 9mm with Surefire X200A nearby, Colt defender in drawer, AR15 Pistol nearby with 40rd mag...I carry a Glock 26 every day.
Bushy m4gery leaning in the corner, sig p228 on the desk beside the bed.
For all you guys who have a "bump in the night gun," whether it's a pistol, rifle, shotgun, do you keep a round in the chamber? Or just keep a full mag and leave the chamber empty so you can rack the slide and make an intruder shit themselves?
Currently, a folding knife and a skinning knife, plus an LED flashlight. After I get some money, either a CZ-52 or Makarov.
Charter Arms .38 spl by my bedside when I'm at home. When I'm at college........ |
there are several in different locations depending on where exactly I am...I have pulled my 92FS from the left of the bed and grabbed the flashlight to investigate and another time I was facing the right side of the bed where I can grab another 92FS from that drawer...
i'm a bad person...I keep my guns loaded with extra mags available...I do have trigger locks but they are in the garage somewhere... |
I use a baseball bat with nine eight-inch nails driven through it, and a tape-recording of a shotgun racking. |
That's kind of lame... Tell her how much she means to you, and it's her ass you're trying to protect! |
G17 tucked between the bedrail and boxsprings. Winchester 1200 leaning against the door of the safe. Derringer in my ready to go in the morning pants.
Pistols with the safety off, chamber loaded Shotguns with safety off, chamber empty (No, not so I can make the dreaded sound) |

Springfield 1911 and a spare mag or USP 40 and a spare mag. Ar is close enough that I can get to it if I need to.
For when they shit their pants when I pay the tape - or for when I brain them with my +3 Spiky Club of Destiny? Either way, I'll need the mop, I guess. |

I keep a Sig 2340 with two 12 round mags and one in the chamber in the night stand by my bed. 1911 Springfield G.I. Champion with me in the day. Both loaded with Gold Dots.
Bushmaster with in arms reach whenever I'm home.
Full mag, not "charged" light and red dot. Wife likes the security. Live on a farm with a 1/4 mile driveway and secluded. GM |
She's just playing when she asks about adequacy. I think it's just a ploy to get me to prove her wrong. It works every time!!She does like the protection in reality!!
What about the AK? I'm disappointed in you. |
You arm your beagle? Maybe I should give mine some training. 1 beagle, 1 blue heeler, and 3 of their pups ought to make a great fire squad... |
Bulgarian Makarov - 9x18 loaded with 115gr silver bear HP always in the night stand. On the other side of the house I have a CZ-75 where I am during the day I have loaded with 16rds of Remington Golden Sabers 147gr . The AR is close by in the cabinet loaded with Black Hills 68gr OTM.

Benelli M2 tactical next to the bed (my fav bump in the night gun)
AK in the bathroom P3AT in the computer desk. I carry a Glock 23 everyday but the M2 gets the call when I hear strange noises at night, just like last weekend at 2:55 am when someone knocked on my front door. |
Mossberg 500 in the closet. I have a cable lock through it because of the kids. They have been taught firearms safety but you can never be too careful. The key to the cable lock is hidden close by and I can be operational very quickly.
I keep my XD-40 "Tactical" in the night stand right next to the bed. I've got my Mossy 500 under the bed, and my AR in the closet.
I think my dog would take care of any intruders before I'd have to use any of that stuff though |
Same here, except for a minor addition... |
PARA ORD. 7/45 with one in the chamber and the safety ON . Maglight and cell phone . If I need more than that , it ain't a burglar , it's a freakin' firefight . GOD help 'em if it comes to that . |

Besides setting up my shotguns rigged to go off at the person that opens any of my locked doors. It should wake me up to call the cleaning crew to mop up their remains. I am armed all the time & I also have two legs.
