California Carjacking Foiled By Broken Headlight
Story by nbcsandiego.com

A carjacking suspect was taken into custody Sunday after police on patrol tried to pull him over for having a broken headlight.

The car was stolen at gunpoint in the 3700 block of Sports Arena Boulevard at about 12:25 a.m. Sunday as the car's owner was arriving at a hotel, police said.

The carjacker drove away, but police on patrol in the area tried to pull the car over for having a headlight out, police said. The driver did not stop.

The man then led police on a chase before crashing on Mission Bay Drive, police said.

The car's owner was not involved in the chase or crash, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

And people get pissed about "fishing expeditions" when stopped for equipment violations.
