They don't help to any degree worth the money. What they tend to do is dehydrate the smoke, which makes it taste worse, and to take away some of the more pleasant flavors. |

Pull it out and throw it away. Learn how to tamp a bowl properly and don't be so stingy that you smoke it untill you suck ashes down your goozle.
