OK, first some background.

This one goes back to the DonR / AntiUSSA "grandmother friendly" forum plans from around June 2002. Old timers may recall the forum took a dramatic shift in terms of the CoC and I was one of the primary designated boogeymen who was undermining the forum with my presence. As a result forums like fullauto.com were created and I took about a years hiatus where I posted here very infrequently. Things eventually got more back to normal when the "family friendly" idea didn't fly very well (we already have 1,000 Glocktalks but only one arfcom).

Anyway some of my buddies got sick of DonRs "Dirty Harry" mod style and decided to set him up. And one of them who goes by the username RyanHK21 over on HKPro sent DonR the following email:

I Know SteyrAUG In Person

Hey I've been watching that stuff on ar15 for a while and I'm dying laughing. I know this guy for real. You should see this dick head. I do gun shows down here and I'm always near his table.

I don't know what you know about him but you won't believe this. He sits there wearing a Navy SEAL unifrom. Like Navy SEALs sell guns at gunshows. We always walk by and salute him at his table and bust out laughing. Somewhere I got a pic of him in his dress blues with seal crest at a gunshow.

You listen to him talk and he goes on and on about this and that. He tells people he owns a ton of guns too. In fact the only guns he owns are a bunch of C&R guns. And only about 10 of them, all junk. It is the guy he works for that owns all the guns that he has pictures of. He's just a salesman at a gunstore and sells guns on the side. He's not even a real FFL, just does private sales on the side. He orders his stuff right out of shotgun news on the store FFL. He photographs all the cool guns and says there his own. He even has a book of pictures that he brings to gun shows to impress people with his collection.

Everything he "thinks" he knows about guns he has to look up on the internet or ask somebody who really knows. He's a joke.

It was a thinly veiled referrence to the old DThor / Navy Seal thing (again old timers will know the story) and the idea was to wait for DonR to publicly expose me and then we had a picture of a Steyr AUG rifle sitting in a chair with a Navy uniform jacket draped around it, complete with SEAL crest. I just happened across the saved email, I don't still have the picture.

Anyway DonR never publically exposed me on the forum. But what he did was share the email in private with at least one other (and probably all) member of the staff at the time. A few months later antiUSSA tried to "out" me one night in the arfcom chatroom as a fake SEAL and got owned pretty good. Some older members may remember the incident. He kept trying to get proof of my being a FFL for some time after that, he really did want to believe the story was true. Of course me having the email and the address of the sender didn't help his cause.

I wonder if there aren't still some staff members who know the sordid truth about me. Isn't the internet fun.

That's funny because someone sent me a IM the other night saying that you were a staff member at a well known gay chat room.

Any truth to that or were they just trying to get you out of the closet?

Damn I forgot about AntiUSSA.  I talked to him on the phone a few times and he seemed ok but when he posted he could be fricking nuts.

Dthor, god what a pathetic sack.

Same with some of the other names mentioned.

I miss the days of Zen and his missle silo, same for the pictures of him riding with his sheep on a motorcycle.

It always seems that when I take a hiatus from the board, weird stuff happens.

Sometimes I miss something good, other times it works out for me (glad I missed the whole frankthespank thing).

While they were definitely idiots (especially antiUSSA), you WERE a bit of a trouble-maker when you first joined the board.  With all the BOTD and all.

antiUSSA once locked a thread of mine because it had the word "snatch" in the title, and gave me a long sancitmonous speech about it

Actually if you take the time to recall, I didn't post very much BOTD stuff. I did however START the whole thing with the original BOTD post. But I more or less confined my efforts to that single post. I didn't have a dozen BOTD topics.

But because I was the author of the BIG ONE, I got the rep. just the same.

I remember that the good old days weren't always good...But I remember some funny and not-so-funny junk from back then. I still miss McUzi, NSFJoJo, and Imbroglio.

We both signed up in Feb 2001 (I lurked for about six months before joining) but I'm only 29,200 posts behind you. I think I need to take a day off and catch up with you.

DThor!!!!!     Now there's a name I hadn't seen in a couple of years.   Sad thing is he still thinks he's all that and a bag of chips.

Saw him at a  local gun shop and I wanted to vomit.   The chump is so full of himself.

We're going operational soon so I will be off the net for a few days.

Since we're telling stories, I'll break another funny one.

Most old timers know I came over from HK91.com (the old Todd Wars). Originally the SteyrAUG account was at least 4 people. It was started here at arfcom by a guy I worked with. That is how I managed round the clock posting those first couple months I was here and at HK91.com.

Eventually the novelty wore off for everyone else and within a couple months I was the only one using the SteyrAUG username. On the old arfcom board my username was "Arminius."

Ahh the old days.

Into the wayback machine.....Frank seemed to flip out one night and spammed the board with scat (yes, that kind) pics thus instituting the 12 second post rule.

In an act of "suicide by mod" FrankTheSpank began posting a multitude of topics which all contained scat pictures.

Oh - wew. Glad this wasnt about what I thought it was.

You know, loose lips, sink ships, and cause brake cables to be severed. Hate to have to off a fellow SEAL for violating his top secret clearance.

Carry on.

Wow! A brain cell just kicked in--- Frank bombed this site with some really disgusting scat pics. I had logged on and was trying to find out why I kept getting a really BAD porn site. Shortly thereafter, Frank was Spanked!

You don't really want to know. I still have nightmares.

Now I wouldn't mind hearing Treetops story again.

Ug, this is bringing back the memories of BRC1.......

Hey, I had a blast.   Didn't let boorish behavior (heard about some secondhand) ruin it.

The flavor of a lot of boards has changed over time--some for the good, some for the bad.    Anti, Grin, etc. all had some good contributions while they were here (regardless of later difficulties).

I miss Cincinattus and his paintings; I wonder how he's faring and I wonder if he's ever come back to the States.

I wouldn't buy or hang any of his art, but was interesting to examine and analyze, and he was a good sport and would accept any wierd interpretation you wanted to assign.

I need to get on my other computer to post a link to part of the pre Nov 2000 archives.  It's weird to read, most of the threads seem just like they were posted yesterday.
