Anyone else love this movie?
I never saw it.
I checked recently with the local rental and they didn't have it. Is it worth a buy? |
If you like cheesy comedies that were meant to be cheesy. Loved every second of it! Get netlflix, never have to drive to the movie place again!
One of the funniest movies ever. My wife doesn't get it, so apparently it's not for everyone. Either that, or she is insane |
Fun movie, I always liked it. I got it on DVD when they restored it.
Supposedly it was supposed to be a sequel to Buckaroo Bonzai (another flick I liked) but nobody wanted to pick it up after BB didn't do so hot at the theaters! |
so what kind of gun did kurt russel use in big trouble in little china?
My wife too. Must be a woman thing. She also doesn't find Beavis and Butthead funny. Odd. |
I'd buy it if I could find it. |
One of my favorites. The expository dialogue in the diner cracks me up.
"I never drive faster than I can see, besides, it's all in the reflexes".
The movie served one purpose, to make me crave a GerberMk II (Bench Mark/Gerber/Bear MGC Tac-II).
But sadly, those babies aren’t found easily and they ain’t cheap. To quote Lo Pan: "This just pisses me off to no end!" |
Everybody relax, I'm here.
More appropriate for here. Wang Chi: Here's to the Army and Navy and the battles they have won; here's to America's colors, the colors that never run. Jack Burton: May the wings of liberty never lose a feather. |
FN FNC.... Awww damn it. What is an FN FNC.... Looks like a tec9. |
cheese to the max but always fun. this belongs in the movie forum
"You have a gun I hope?"
"I have a knife." "A knife!? That guy's 12 feet tall." "Hey, don't worry about it. I can handle it. I took something." |

Great movie! |

One of my favorit lines, from Jack Burton to Lo Pan; "Are you crazy? Is that your problem?" The commentary on the DVD is hilarious as well. Essentially just the director and the guy who plays Jack Burton laughing at themselves and at the movie. Good stuff. |
Well, she did marry you. |
What was the poor woman thinking?? |
REALLY out there.
Pretty good tongue-in-cheek acting and very campy. Loads of fun for my kids back then. |
Ever since seeing it, I havent stop looking for a girl with green eyes to make me mortal again.
Super movie.... Got it on DVD.... Now im looking for Howard the Duck .....
Well, she's a woman, so it's probably in her genes. I don't think many women appreciate this movie. The real 'joke' of the movie is that the d the sidekick is actually the hero, and the hero is just the sidekick (but thinks he's the hero). The DVD with the commentary by carpenter and russell is cool. Just like a couple of old friends getting back together to talk about the movie they made - and anything else they can think of. |
Considering they made lord knows how many movies together, I'd expect them to be old buds Now I gotta go home and watch the director's commentary...it was the one part of the disc I haden't watched/heard yet. |
Another plus to this movie is Kim Cattrell when she was hot. She was a smoking babe back then.
+1! the chinese chick was a hottie as well. definitely worth buying, cool characters, lotsa silly action, magic! |
One of the best movies, ever. |
damn it. I forgot about this movie. I am buying it today (not kidding)
And I thought I was the only weird one who like this movie. This and the 5th Element. When ever its on TV I sit down and watch them.
both good ones. the weird guy is the one waiting for "howard the duck"! |
Same here for both movies. I was really surprised by The 5th Element. And the mention of Buckaroo Banzai above... another good movie. |
One of my very favorites. The very first movie I bought on LaserDisc IIRC... either that or Buckaroo Banzai.
ETA: I didn't even see the page 1 reference to BB until I saw the post above... which wasn't there when I started typing. |
Jack: "What you? I don't get this at all. I thought most..."
Wang: "Shut up Mr Burton, you are not brought upon this world to get it." |
In before the move to the movie forum.
"Ol' Jack always says...what the hell." |
"I feel good, and I'm not scared at all. I just feel kind of... kind of invincible... " |
One of my favorites too.
I wish 'ol Jack Burton would climb aboard the Pork Chop Express for a sequel. |
