I have some nice toys, but they cost me dearly, and I had to buy mine while I still could (pre-2000). I'm still paying some of them off.
I haven't bought a gun in about 4 years. I haven't bought a gun accessory in almost 2 years. I've had to rachet way back on that stuff due to my business/employment situation. Most of the folks here have had hard times, and many of the folks with REALLY nice stuff were living on Ramen noodles when they were younger. Some guys my age (35) get divorced and end up having to sell off their entire, hard-earned collections. Life is full of surprises, and you have to be able to handle both success/prosperity and failure/financial hardships. And trust me, success is often the more difficult to handle. The main thing is that you tend to "make your own luck." If you constantly work hard and set realistic goals to IMPROVE your situation (financially, academically, spiritually, or whatever), and as long as you remember that most "great deals" are total scams that will cost you a LOT more than you think, you'll do fine. -Troy |

Just 10 years ago, I was lucky to have a Bushmaster, now I own guns I never thought I would be able to afford.
Times change young Padawan, be patient. |

I'm looking forward to when I can cash in all my delayed gratification for more gun $$$. Ammunition is the real ball buster for me. I love milsurp but some guns just shoot expensive like my Swiss K31. I've got five different calibers to stock, three of which I consider expensive (5.56, 7.5, .30-06), on a college budget! I don't date nor party; that helps a lot.

I've got a decent collection now but it took 10-15 years of sporatic buying, and 1 or two years of frenetic buying. Back to sporatic again and it will probably be a while before I buy another one. Going nutz and having fun is great to do once in a while. You also have to know when to stop. I incurred no debt and no CC interest buying them. I don't own new cars, new toys, new electronics, and most other stuff I buy is used if possible. I spend some of what I save on guns and related. I might not LIVE well, but I live WELL.
if you ever do any frenetic selling, I'll take that IBM you've got |
Trying to remember where I got that. Oh, I remember now Very nice, it likes some 60s USGI milsurp I found for her on strippers. I added two mostly all USGI M1As lately and am itching to try those out. When did you get a new avatar? And if I sell [not lookin to right now] I would try to give you the chance if you want it. |

Naw, you'll never sell it. Any gun your woman likes is a keeper
Never is a long time. She only truly swiped one so far that she will not give back. But she DOES like it. Her sweet 16 is still her "big" gun tho. |

This has all the elements of an... indecent proposal... hmmm. |

From an old fart. You are young and have a beautiful wife. You'll have time for the toys. Take care of the wife and schooling and look foward to getting out of your current neighborhood. My father in law lived in a trailer when in college with his wife and infant daughter. Ended up with four kids, a nice house on a lake with a boat. Time takes time. Just don't lose sight of what is really important. Hang in there and good luck.

Thanks ETA: (Jobs * 2 == guns++) / women |

I forgot what she looks like. Post another picture to refresh my memory. |

Make it 20 years sporadic and 3-4 years frenetic and I'm right there with you. |

She's a doll, you are blessed, and the rest will come in its own time. Patience is a virtue. |
