You know, the one you never tell anyone about or would like to forget.The most bone head purchase you ever made. A piece of junk, you really got took, a girl gun, whatever. Let it out, get it off your chest here.

I'll go first. I paid $350.00 for a Remington model 12 .22 pump. A beat to shit piece of junk. It's a long, painfully embarassing story that I'm not ready to tell. Howver, I keep it as a reminder to never be that stupid again.

I bought a Winchester Model 94 from the local hardware store for $400, then saw the exact same gun at Wal Mart for like $250 a week later......

Bought a .22 bolt action from a friend for $30, so I got what I paid for.

Got a Walther P22 from a pawnshop for $180. Jammed like hell at first. I've done a lot of cleaning to it, messed around with the magazines (and bought new ones!) and it seems to run pretty good now.

I took an "unpapered" tactical rifle to a consignment gun shop. Then I decided to keep it. I had to fill out a 4473 to get it back. What's worse is that I didn't put my SSN on the form and had to wait a few days to pick it up. Dumbest )(*&^&*^& thing I have done in a long time.

I would relate that to the shooter.

My worst gun purchase has to be a KT P11. Sold it back to the gunshop that week. The super long heavy trigger pull and the trigger slap was enough to know that it wasnt right for me.

Older Auto Ordnance POS 1911A1. Absolute garbage, POS, worthless, out of spec, cheap cast, ECT, ever owned. However the cheap ass Romanian Mil trainer .22 bolt actions for $49 bucks that Dunhams sporting goods had a while ago were the best .22 rifles I have run across in years for peanuts. I can take out woodchucks easily at 100 yards with the open sights and they are built like tanks with very few parts. I had to put that in there to ease the pain of the AOjunker.

+1 Had nothing but good luck with Ruger stuff here.

Mine was probably a Walther P22, it was to small for my hands, wouldnt feed anything reliably no matter what I tried. I finally sold it to some guy who thought he could fix it. I dont know if he ever did or not.

Taurus PT145. Hunk of shit, long trigger pulling, no good junk. Gave it to my dad because I could not get more than 110 bucks on a trade as much as I tried.

Beretta 92 and S&W Aside from the 9mm being to weak and only having an advantage in the capacity area, both of the ones I've owned were proned to jamming and POS's. I liked the Beretta so I traded it for a 96 and ended up not liking it either. The Smith was just like every other Smith auto ever made, an unreliable POS. Felt good in my hand, until I pulled the trigger. All 12 pounds and over an inch travel of it. To many sheared off case heads to count before I sold it. I had a smith .40 that did the same thing. It was a good gun till I got 8k rounds through it, then it started to go down hill. My Glock22 is steadily climbing, probably pushing 26k by now and I've yet to have any sort of malfunction in it yet.

I paid top dollar new at a little mom and pop gunstore (they had to order it special for me) for a Charter Arms stainless 44spl bulldog. This little sucker was a snub 5 shot and it kicked like hell. That part was to be expected but the damm thing must of been assembled by monkeys. The double action trigger was about 15lb when it broke but it would hang up on like 1 out of every three shots. It wasn't cylinder drag or anything like that,it was just crappy lockwork. It went to the factory twice and wasn't much better. then I traded It and some other stuff towards a mini 14 that I never could get to shoot anthing better than a modified pattern.After screwing with this for about 15 years I traded it towards my first Bushmaster. The good part about the mini was that I had bought stacks of good mags when they were 10-12 bucks and the place I traded it gave me great value for them. They gave me $325 for the mini (about what I paid) but they gave me another $200 for the mags and I even held some back for a buddy!

I bought a NIB Llama Mini Max Sub Compact .45 for $350 dollars. It sucks I still got it.

The mags are expesive and it's not that accurate. It is reliable when kept clean. My brother wants it and I am gonna sell it to him for $200.

What really sucks is that it was my 1st Handgun. My dad bought the gun for me at at gunshow in Richmond.

A VA State Trooper was there and I was asking him about guns, about the Llama. He said .45's are nice but I would be dissapointed with the Llama. He told me to save my cash and get something better. I should have listened.

i bought a hellwan 9mm. copy of a beretta 1951. paid $160. it only works if you load down the mags to 6 instead of 8. and it doesn't hit worth a damn. it's paper plate accurate out to about 5 yards. beyond that, it shoots minute-of-USS Alabama.

i've tried to sell it, but i don't want to take a loss and i'm too honest not to tell the buyer about it's problems.

I wanted a 1911 so bad, instead of saving up the money for the real deal (Springfield), I instead spend money on a Firestorm. Its inaccurate as hell, and the parts aren't std to 1911s. I still have it. Don't ask me why, but I still do. I haven't sold one of my guns yet, and don't intend to. I never want to end up saying, "Man I wish I never sold that."

ETA: the LLama Microma X380. Jumpy little bastard. i fugure its a cheap carry gun that I could toss/dispose of (after breaking down if possible) and not look back.

In truth, there is a lot of trial-and-error in gun buying. How many get the chance to shoot something before they buy it. At the range, I let people shoot my stuff so it might help them in a decision.

A auto ord 10mm gun worked fine and was very rough but the reason i got rid of it was any factory 10mm ammo came out of it with some of the flatest and cratered primers i had ever seem , only starting load handloads came out looking OK, not much sense having a 10mm that will only handle 40SW power level ammo

Op rod popped off the bolt roller the first week. I brought it back and got my money back. I was lucky to get the refund. Spent that on a Remington model 7 in 7-08 with change left over.

Now I know how crappy those F0 M14s are.

bought a filipino 1911 from a gun writer, for some reason i beleived the article, and he gave me the magazine with my gun in it .
Thing was accurate as hell, and a great gun for about 500 rounds.
then the plunger retainer rivet popped, and the saefety wouldnt operate.
then i fixed that, and noticed that the spring guide bushing was being chewed up.
then one day the barrel bushing broke, and pieces of gun launched down range.

needless to say, my next 1911 was a springfield.
