Got this from another board*.  Copy the following into notepad, and save as an *.htm file on your desktop or something.  Then set it as your desktop background.

It will auto-refresh every 5 minutes (you can change this, in purple) and is set for DFW by default. Go to the "K---" airport identifier in the weblink below and change it to whatever airport you want.

Code follows:

<html>

<head>

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="300">

</head>

<body bgcolor="#0066CC">

<p align="center">

<font color="#FFFFFF" size="5" face="Verdana">

</font>

<br>

If you see an N on the front of the plane ID it's a puddle jumper,  A 3 letter ID would be a pro.

The numbers on the left are altitude, the numbers on the right are groundspeed (not airspeed).

And the ^ or V just after the altitude indicate if it is climbing or descending.

Edit - hehe

Yep.  You change the extension by typing, in quotes, "filename.htm", or you can just let Notepad save it as a .txt file and then right-click it and rename it that way.

There are lots of N# ID's out there that denote aircraft that fly faster, higher, further, with better paid crews than the airlines.

A better definition is Commercial Airliners, vs. Private Airplanes.

For those of you who don't already use it, check out FLTPLAN.com

It's free.  Check out the flight planning and in particular, the flight tracking.   It's one stop shopping.
I'm de only one in dis thread prufessnul unuf to fly a puddlejumper.

An HTM file is a text file, so just rename it to have an extension of HTM and be done with it.  Follow my instructions just above on saving as a HTM file by enclosing the entire desired file name in quotes.

Is there a list of airport codes someplace? Might be fun to play around with different ones.

Cool.

Looks like the color of the lines mean something.  I think the light blue lines mean the flight is going to the specified airport, and the green are just in airspace.

Well, you can try using www.airnav.com/airports/

Search by Airport Name, Airport City, or Airport Identifier (Code  ).

Of course, you should have them all memorized, most are easy!   (The big ones that is.)
