I went to the "Hunting Ammo Box" and grabbed a box For refrence The round on the left is a LE223T3 round The round on the Right is a M118 .308 round Let the fun begin

Looks a tad small to be a 30-378 Wby and the bullet looks to small to be a .340 Wby.

The rim of the cartridge has been turned down so that it is narrower than the diameter of the case. This is done so that larger-diameter cartridges can be used with smaller, pre-existing bolt heads. Not having to make yet another size of bolt head reduces the cost of the rifle, makes spare parts easier to find, and increases the chance that an odd-ball round can be successful. -Troy |
