We've all cut out splinters and dug out ingrown toenails, so I've decided to try something new.
I cut my shin months ago and for some reason a big ugly scar formed. It wasnt a very big or deep cut, just a scratch, so I cant figure out why it made a scar.
After reading about scar removal I decided to give it a shot myself. I wiped the area down with some alcohol and got my bayonet.
I sterilized the blade and gently scraped at the scar.  I didn't take long for the top layers of skin to come and slight ooze of blood to come out. Didn't hurt much either.
I figured the blood was a good indication to stop the procedure and see how it heals.
A week later the scab came off the scar was much smaller and far less noticible.

I just scraped at it again and if heals up the same way, the scar should be gone next week.

Now for something a little more difficult.
I have some stretch marks on the top of my bicep just below my shoulder that was the result of heavy weight training.
The stretchmarks are alot thicker than the scar on my leg, so  I'm not sure how this will turn out.
I pulled the skin taut with my other had and gently scraped at with the knife. It hurt alot more because I had to scrape longer to get the slight bleeding. I only scraped at one small area as a test to see how it turns out.
I'll update this next week with the results after it heals.

EDIT: I am also an EMT-I, so I have an extensive medical background.

Even recreational gynecology on the weekends?  I really hope not.

R I G H T.

Do it right - get the Dremel and put in one of the sanding wheels.  Go to the kitchen and find the Morton Girl - you know, the one walking in the rain with the umbrella.

Apply salt.

Apply Dremel.

OH DAMN!  Forgot to tell you to tape plastic to the walls - you're sure to make a mess.

Oh shit, I need to nominate this as one of the funniest thread I've read.

Or maybe it is the bottle of vodka I've been hammering.

Either way....thanks for the laughs.

Don't know why, but this is cracking me up.

A scar, a bayonete, an EMT-I named ArmedAndRetarded read something about scar removal, and it's Christmas Eve.

Former EMT here. Put my home surgery skills to work a few years ago. Sliced a planters wart off using a bic shaver over a few days.

EMT...extensive medical background?
I respect EMT's.
That being said, you training is far from extensive and light on the medical.
"Medical background" brings to mind alot more than extracation skills and the ABC's.
I've been a full time+ RN for 11 years and would never claim what you have and I can assure you I have a much broader medical background.
I cannot, however, get anyone out of a wreck with out making them a quad in the process. Thank you for being there.

My wife sells Mary Kay also, but you would want to buy this to make your strech marks go away. My wife and her friends have all had babies and it has made the strech marks from pregnacy disappear.
