So I just finished watching the Discovery Channel.

It's a very interesting story.  What do you guys think about it?

I think he could have survived, but I'm not sure he did.

They found no body, but none of the bills ever showed up except for the few that washed up on the bank of the river.

I bet he pulled it off. He is one of my inspirations.

The Navy seals have been doing similar jumps for years.  It's possible.  Ever seen without a paddle?

What if he was an Ex-Seal?

IIRC, DB did his jump before the SEALs ever tried it.
He was the innovator.
All others are imitators.

I have it on good authority he made it......

All the way to the ground.   Gravity wins hands down.

Probably, but I wouldn't wanna take bets on when the military actually started doing it.

My theory is that he died.  I'm ashamed to admit I hope he made it.  The man had balls.

It doesn't seem likely that he would have been able to meet up with an accomplice.  Navigation, timing, etc, would have been too hard.

If he came down in the water, its almost certain that he either drowned or died of exposure given the temperature and his equipment.

The terrain is not an ideal DZ, with the giant trees and mountains and all.

With luck, the jump was do-able.  Skydivers have done it since then.  The search was started late, and the terrain doesn't help the searchers either.

No one ever found a body and only a small part of the money was recovered when it washed up a few years later.

None of the bills ever showed up in circulation as far as anyone knows.  The show I saw today mentioned that the Federal Reserve wasn't automated then, so it was possible they could have slipped through.  I'm not sure I buy that one.

With the jump being so hard and the money never showing up, it gives the impression that he never made it.  Then there is the money that washed up.

Two suspects

I think Cooper and McCoy were one in the same.

Very interesting.
I've never heard of that guy, even when DB Cooper is explicitly mentioned in articles and TV documentaries.

Why not?

His real initials are G.M.B.
In the late seventies he showd up in Ashboro N.C. and opened a drop zone called "liberty skydivers". Had lots of HALO experience and was one of the only Master Riggers in N.C. at the time.
"Just a theory of course"
