So congress puts all this wasteful pork in spending bills when they could be using it on something useful, like breast cancer research or a cure for multiple sclerosis.

What benefits people more?

noble as those objectives may be, it's not the federal government's role to fund either of them.

I have a friend who worked with NIH. Nothing I will be sharing is confidential. The government funds research grants. You just don't see and hear about them all. As for cancer research, my friend told me that they are a long ways off from a cure even though there are successful gains in putting cancer into remission.

The gov gives more grants towards fighting aids than it does cancer, kind of tells you a thing or two.
